Re: What are you eating?
Went to the store on Saturday to buy the stuff to make Vindaloo, instead found a boxed kit for Chicken Tikka that just needed chicken (and for $5). Made it up and it was ok, added curry powder and it was awesome - Taste of India for those curious. Next time I am doing your recipe Luke.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Be sure to not overcook the raisins. You want them plump and ready to burst, not mushy. I've cooked thousands of meals, and Ground Beef Curry is one of the "Repeaters*".fastbilly1 wrote: Next time I am doing your recipe Luke.
And you can doll up the presentiment if you'd like, or slop it on a plate (it will taste the same). If you want to be Mr.Fancy Pants, plop a hefty spoonful of the curry on a plate, top that with an ice cream scoop of rice on top, dust with Curry powder, and a dollop of chutney on top of the rice.
*Repeaters, named for obvious reasons are a shoot from the hip reaction made with the first taste. After the first bite I ask "Repeater?" and withing a snap my wife will say yes or no. A maybe = no.
Oh, the mellow mushroom (in Greenville NC) sucks. Their "olive oil" tastes like vegetable oil, the toppings taste like old Subway toppings, and the cheese they use would be better used for making a spare tire.

Im not to keen on the raisin and almonds in it, but I will give it a go. I can see us in the future removing both, or just the almonds.
Re: What are you eating?
Make sure you get blanched, slivered almonds. They add flavor and texture. The raisins are great as they burst with a sweet juiciness.fastbilly1 wrote:Im not to keen on the raisin and almonds in it, but I will give it a go. I can see us in the future removing both, or just the almonds.

Went to Costco. They had chicken alfredo for about 2 bucks a pound on sale. Seemed like a decent enough deal for me so I bought the 4 pound container. That'll feed me dinner for a week.

Going to grill out Knockwurst and corn on the cob tonight, with a side of sauerkraut rye. Nothing like a German meal on an American holiday.
Made a roasted pork shoulder a few days ago, and I'm still on the fence of which wood I like to smoke it with. Mesquite is out, apple and cherry wood are still in, as is maple.

That would be "Maize". I should have typed Colonel von kernels.elmagicochrisg wrote:Definitely an American twist in there...Luke wrote:Going to grill out Knockwurst and corn on the cob tonight, with a side of sauerkraut rye. Nothing like a German meal on an American holiday.
Was hoping to have mettwurst, but I'm not complaining.
Re: What are you eating?
That's exactly what we had here. Beer, Albertan sangria, corn on the cob, potatoes, sauerkraut, and bratwurst, one German, one spicy Italian.Luke wrote:Going to grill out Knockwurst and corn on the cob tonight, with a side of sauerkraut rye. Nothing like a German meal on an American holiday.
