Most likely that was to do with the bump in video ram up to 2GB. It seems to be massively dependant on CPU (as with most emulation).

PCSXE2 isn't hard to get up and running, there's plenty of guides out there that tell you exactly how to set it up for most of the popular games. Just follow it step by step.

You don't need a powerful PC to play PS2 games at full speed, at the native resolution. A cheap 600$ one can do the trick. Some might ask me 'What's the point if you can't improve the graphics?'

The convenience of having everything i need on one single system, my secondary PC is constantly connected to my TV.

And i don't have to worry about the hardware failing. (with my PC, i can easily take it to one of the dozen PC shops in my city if it ever fails me - which has never happened in the 4 years i've had it, with a console, i have to research and find the parts on the internet, usually i never do, overall is an incredible hassle for me)

I have no idea what will work on your computer. Just try it yourself.

That's.. not good. Dreamcast emulation (nulldc 1.0.4 specifically, i haven't played with the revisions because i don't need them) is very low on requirements. Playing it at full speed at native resolution can be done on a 2008 mid-range PC, which are cheap as hell these days (done so two years ago).

Dreamcast emulation is great, in my opinion. I've tested roughly 25 games on it, and all the ones i tested work flawlessly (a handful of them had insignificant graphical glitches that i didn't have a problem with).

N64 emulation is pretty good aswell, most popular games work just fine. What i like is that Project 64 can run on a toaster, and you don't need anything close to a powerful PC to run the games in 1080p. Though a lot of games suffer from graphical glitches, much more so than NullDC 1.0.4

Saturn emulation is also fantastic. There's this ignorant myth that emulation isn't good, but that hasn't been the case since 2005. Ever since SSF 0.8 (2006), emulation has been very good. And these days, SSF 0.12 (current version) can play anything that i've tested at flawless speed, it's also constantly updated.

PS1 emulation is perfect. epsxe 1.9.0 recently released, and it's so incredible playing Chrono Cross in HD, with a cell-shaded filter. It practically looks like a early PS2 game.

Man, I really wanna play Saturn games but some of the games I try don't seem to work. Some of them like Die Hard Arcade have weird things wrong about them like there is no soundtrack. I've only tried like 3 or 4 different games, but I think Nights is the only game I got working good.

I'm thinking the roms I'm using are no good.

Finally tried out Dreamcast emulation and you guys are right, it works like a charm. Gotta figure out how to config my 360 controls though, other wise it seems to run pretty damn good and it was a really easy process.

I could never get DC emulation to work. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'll play with it some more maybe.

SSF works like a dream for Saturn though.

I wish I could get PS2 working but my computer is too crap for that. I look forward to it someday.

Seems like I got it to recognize my 360 controller.

Every dreamcast game at my disposal, I am very pleased. Seems like I dont have to waste any CDs to burn games. 8)

Do any of you guys play PS2 or Dreamcast games with analog sticks?

If so, how accurate is it for you guys? Can you go up+left, etc well?

I know when I tried playing Ape Escape on PSX, my guy kept walking instead of running when I would go in a corner direction. (using a 360 controller)

Only problem with my comp is that it has a shit tier video card, but it could handle everything else from this gen.

You guys think if my comp could run Source engine games it could run PS2 emulation well enough? My guess is no.

How does Dreamcast emulation compare to PS2 and N64 emulation btw?

Could you list your specs? Maybe I can help you with a few things (like which rev to use, and which options should be enabled/disabled. I've been using PS2 for a long time and fiddling with it on different PCs, all of them hovering in the midrange/low end category. It can run fullspeed on native res even on a GT 220, if your CPU is fast enough.)

Also, IIRC, the Source engine is scalable and is pretty good at running on hardware that would otherwise choke on Unreal Engine 3. I can run CS Source and HL 2 on my AMD E-450 laptop (1.6 ghz per core, the video is Radeon HD 6320) but it starts having problems on Left 4 Dead (uses source engine as well, but modified and some say unoptimized).

Lol, bout a month late but what ever. Missed this post o.O, but at least now I've actually tried emulating PS2 (I have Kingdom Hearts, my spotty internet connection is stopping me from downloading more).

Windows 7 64 bit (Operating system)

Intel Core i7 Processor (CPU)

Intel HD Graphic (video card)

6GB DDR3 (Memory)
