Windows 7 Looks Nice
If the niceness continues I may actually upgrade from XP

I see nothing I care about. Looks like 7 is ganna be another failure. Microsoft just doesn't get it.

Looks too similar to vista still. I'll have to use it to see what real differences there are.
Vista for now has worked fine for me aside from all the crap it gets (I've been using it for over a year with no problems at all).

The new UI tweaks look really nice. I get a feeling a few of the devs have been fiddling around with KDE.

Re: Windows 7 Looks Nice
im using Linux from now on. I can run Windows apps, i get the security of a Unix OS like Mac OS X. Frankly, unless there is some real change in Microsofts vision with Windows. I cant see myself using 7 as a primary OS.

Same here, aside from some initial problems the thing runs just fine. Seems to me like as long as your computer is somewhat recent it runs fine.alexjames01 wrote:Looks too similar to vista still. I'll have to use it to see what real differences there are.

Re: Windows 7 Looks Nice
I have Vista on a computer I bought a year ago and I hate it. I don't do much intensive operations but it seems like I fight it on basic things a lot. It's really left me wishing I'd bought a Mac instead. That's what I'll do next time I buy a desktop.
Re: Windows 7 Looks Nice
I built my PC about a year ago and stuck Vista on it, and I haven't had any real problems with it that I didn't already have with XP (cursed lack of Mechwarrior 2). So I don't know if I'll end up picking up Windows 7, since it's really just an incremental upgrade of Vista. But it looks like they've ironed out enough that they'll get more XP converts.

I am an engineer and Vista runs my programs wonderfully. Using Matlab, MathCad, Aspen, etc are a breeze, and it helps too that it is optimized for multi-core systems. Additionally, Windows 7 will build upon this, while streamlining the core-components and hopefully make a better, faster system. Oh yea, Vista runs far better than XP ever did, for me at least.

Re: Windows 7 Looks Nice
Ahh looks to be Vista SP2 (or 3 or whatever) so I guess maybe it will be a bit more reliable. Although I do realize that OEMs put tons of crap on new computers which makes them run slow, I have never had a positive experience with Vista.
