Well, I hope it's the same for me.KitKatCara wrote:My experience wasn't horrible, but could have been perceived as so. We lost electricity for a month and had no running water. Everyone on my street came together though and we cooked over open fires and played music with old instruments that had been collecting dust and made the best of it. The National Guard dropped MREs (the things the troops eat.) out of helicopters and watching that was pretty cool.
We didn't have flooding in my area too bad, most of it was tornadoes and wind damage. Trees were down everywhere, and we couldn't even leave our neighborhood for the first week.
It was an interesting experience to say the least. Not something I would ever want to go through again, but not something that brings me down when I look back on my own experience. I wish I could say the same for everyone though.

One of those mini essays I like to write. I have to say though, I am a bit flattered. I don't think I'm that interesting of a person.oxymoron wrote: Well, I hope it's the same for me.What made you want to be a mortician?

I'm always interested in learning about peoples callings as I don't really have one quite yet. I don't really believe in destiny so it's quite interesting learning how people perceive their calling. Not that i'm a sociopath but I've never really wanted to help people or change the world. I guess it depends on your personality. I am quite an oxymoron if you will. I want to make a great salary (90k-100k) but don't really want to go to college. I love to make money but don't necessarily want to be a businessman.KitKatCara wrote:oxymoron wrote: Well, I hope it's the same for me.What made you want to be a mortician?

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Six months ago, I had no clue what I wanted to do. I usually pick something, but a few weeks later I become less interested then just forget about it. The difference with this career path is that it combines personality traits and personal interest, so this is why I feel like it fits me. I can't think of any part of this that isn't rewarding, even though it will be emotionally straining. I've watched a few interviews of Funeral Directors, and in every single one they all said something along the lines of "The moment you don't go home or pull your car to side of the road and have a good cry is the moment you should leave the field."
I kinda stopped looking, and focused on what I thought was interesting and it lead me to this. I don't have the pressure of having to find a job right now though. Finally not being pressured to make money has allowed me to really find out what I want to do. (I planned to go back to work anyway, being a stay at home mom is great but not for me.)

Smile: The quality of this picture will drive Hobie crazy, but here it is:

Since it was my wife's first day back at work I bought her a bouquet of flowers, the book Green Eggs & Ham (with a note from yours truly on the inside cover), and prepared Green egg and ham for her. Nice night.

My kids are all about playing the homemade MAME arcade machine (Smile), but not the games. They just like feeding it quarters. Over and over again. (Frown)
