What games did you get with your new system
Whats goin on fellas. I have been lurking here for a few years now and decided to join since this is the only place I feel that has like minded gamers.
My question is whenever you get a new console what games did you get early on.
Im 32 years of age and my first family console was a 2600. I played that thing and loved it but I wanted something a little stronger mainly an nes since my neighbor dorothy had a caleco vision. here is my list.
sega master system in 2nd grade for my birthday. It came with safari hunt and hang on and my mother also picked a random game which was black belt which i still play to this day ever so often. I took my birthday money from relatives and then purchased shinobi on the weekend and double dragon from my friend that lived on the 2nd floor of my building. My mother tried to get an nes but it was sold out everywhere. I was happy still.
nes in 3rd grade for christmas. A year and sometime later i was still asking for an nes. A week or two before christmas i caught my mother coming out the elevator with the system and she made me go inside the house so I would not see it. It turned out to include the gun and powerpad as well as mario bros/duck hunt/world class track meet.
I loved track meet but the neighbors downstairs would always complain. my mother apparently let my aunt know beforehand because she gave me contra for christmas as well. That was a great year.
Being from the south bronx my mother was not to picant in having me hang at the local arcade. it was a pizza shop and bodega on burnside which had street fighter 2 and other games like violence fight and tmnt. I told her if I got a snes I would not go out.
snes 5th grade christmas. The pack in game with an extra controller (last time we'd see this) was super mario world. i got the system two weeks before christmas cause i had a good report card and i guess she felt bad that on christmas i would not have anything to open so she got me final fight.
genesis end of 5th grade. I promised to stay out of the arcade but i could not resist. My parents went to buy an air conditioner for the summer heat wave and i was able to weasel a genesis out of it. It came with sonic and i was able to get spiderman vs the kingpin on day one as well. I had been having fantasies of this game after one of the genisis does commercials. I also wanted golden axe but would have to wait and decided spiderman would be the better purchase. My father had started gaming as well at the time so we got david robinsons supreme court as well. We did not know there would be one controller only though. When we got home my father played his game first on 12 minute quarters. to make it worse after getting an ass kicking by the cpu he played a rematch. No spiderman till after midnight. needless to say my mother bought him his own genesis the next day and he never really used it. i borrowed altered beast from a friend as well for that summmer.
I will post the rest later starting with my saturn story. Id like to read a few responses.

Re: What games did you get with your new system
My older sister had an Atari 2600, but I don't remember getting it so I must have been damn young.
The first one I remember getting is the NES. I was 6 or 7 (not sure which at this point) and my Grandpa and my Mom went in halfsies for it for Christmas one year. I went ape-sh*t over it. And that's pretty much what made me fall in love with gaming. I got the "Action Set" that came with 2 standard controller, an orange NES Zapper Gun, and the Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt combo cartridge, and that sweet "Now You're Playing With Power" Nintendo poster that I wish I would have held on to, now.
I was lucky, they got me helluva starter set of games. What I got with it:
-The Legend of Zelda (Gold Cartridge)
-Pin-Bot
-Star Soldier
-Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt Combo Cartridge (Pack-In Game)
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
I was even more lucky to have a step-grandma that was a gamer. She'd buy games, and when she finished them, she'd send them to me in the mail; and often with an accompanying Nintendo Power that had a guide to the game. Thanks to a big help from her, I built up a helluva NES collection (which my brother then stupidly traded in at Software Etc. for a GBC with a carrying case a few games).

Hmm, I think my username has went back in time and created a former version of itself.
I am buying all Saturn games, PM me with your offerings and I will let you know if I need the game or not! (Everything must be CIB)
Currently trying to knock off all the sports games, would like to get them <$5 each! Of course if you would like to donate them I will gladly pay the shipping!

Re: What games did you get with your new system
When my family first got the Atari 2600 secondhand, it came with a lot of games. Combat!, Pitfall, Adventure, Pinball, Choplifter and Circus Atari with the paddles were all included.
We stayed in the PC and Apple gaming world in the late 80's to early 90's until we got a Sega Genesis, which came with Altered Beast packed in with it. We had that game and that game alone for quite some time, playing the bajesus out of it. Later when we got a Sega CD, it came with the Sega Classic Arcade Collection with Columns, Revenge of Shinobi, Streets of Rage and Golden Axe. It also came with Sherlock Holmes: consulting Detective vol. 1 and those all too classic music cds with videos.
When we got the Saturn, the system was already on its last leg. We were able to pick up the system, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Albert Odysee, Burning Rangers, Dark Savior, Shining Force 3, Shining the Holy Ark and Dragon Force for incredibly cheap.
With the Dreamcast it was Sonic Adventure and NFL 2K when the system released.
With the Wii, we had Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess and Wii Sports on launch.
With the PS3 we got nothing as the system was mainly for a blu-ray player which we bought for incredibly cheap.
With the WiiU we got Nitnendoland and ZombiU
With the handhelds and other systems, I don't honestly remember sadly.

Actually, I remember with the PS3 I got Skyrim, Heavy Rain, Little Big Planet and Deus Ex Human Revolution. I also got Catherine and Sonic Generations a few days later.

Re: What games did you get with your new system
My first system was a Game Boy Color (Teal) that I got in about 1999 or 2000 for my first communion. It was some kind of Sam's Club value pack that came with a case, Pokemon Red, the guide for Red and Blue from Nintendo Power, and the Game Boy. My grandma also gave me another Sam's bundle featuring Pokemon Yellow, Pokemon Pinball, and the I Choose You! TV Comic. I think I might have also gotten four issues of The Electric Tale of Pikachu around the same time. I got Super Mario Bros DLX for Christmas later that year and I think Pokemon Silver or it might have been the next christmas. Memories are vague.
In 2001 the Game Boy Advance came out and my Grandparents got me the translucent purple one with a copy of Rayman Advance and Super Mario Advance. Fun times. We were all on vacation for my birthday up in the Northwoods of Wisconsin at the cabin my grandparents had and my family would go up to for vacations like a time share until they sold it a few years later. I remember going out for breakfast and playing Rayman underneath the table while waiting for my food.
I got the PS2 in the summer of 2002 for my birthday. My parents and I struck up a deal where if I kept my room clean for three months straight I could get a tropical fish tank. For awhile when me and mom would be shopping sometimes I would try and stick a Nintendo 64 in the cart and my mom would make me put it back, so I would instead stick a PSone in the cart and again had to put it back. Shortly before my birthday, my mom said that I could either get the fish tank or a playstation. After thinking about it for all of ten seconds i said I want the playstation because well you know fish die. The next day or so me and my mom were in the car driving to Best Buy to get one when I asked if I could get a PS2 instead because it was newer, and to my surprise she said yes. So we go to Best Buy and I'm looking at the awesome shelf of games and wondering which one to pick (i could only pick one) when some associate told my mom they were out of PS2s. We left. We tried the KMart next door and got it there instead. They had the Spyro the Dragon three pack and I remembered playing that at my cousins house and really enjoying it and since it came with 3 games instead of one, I got that instead. I got Namco Museum and Gran Turismo 3 with other birthday money, and for christmas Jak and Daxter, Kingdom Hearts, and Spider Man. Good times.
When the GBA SP Came out i saved up all my Best Buy gift cards and got the sleek and amazing silver one and sadly only had enough for a 20 dollar game as well. So I foolishly bought the Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring GBA game. What a turd!
The Nintendo DS is what I wanted for Christmas 2004 but couldnt get a hold of one because it was sold out everywhere, but I got one for my birthday that summer with Super Mario 64 DS. Good stuff.
PS3 High school graduation: Ghostbusters and Arkham Asylum plus other games i dont remember that I got.
3DS XL: first paycheck from walmart and got Lego Batman 2 for free and I got Fire Emblem, New SMB 2, and Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D.
That's all I can remember right now.
