A lot of folks complain that the COD campaigns are 5ish hours. They usually take me a bit longer, but they can be done quick.

I think it really depends on your proficiency in a genre and your interest in exploring a game, too. I know you are familiar with howlongtobeat.com, so you might do well to peruse over there.

And RE: Madworld. Sure, it only takes a short while, but the pain stays with you forever.

Metal Gear Rising is 5-6 hours.

I doubt most people could beat DKCR unless they've played it multiple times in one sitting though.

Exactly. This is why Hotline took me so little time to complete. I'm very good at twitchy games, especially ones that use a mouse and keyboard.

Obviously, they're built around replaying them, but the Left 4 Dead games can all be beaten in a very short amount of time. Easily in one sitting.

I doubt you're going to beat it in a one sitting when you first buy the game. This game is tough. And when you've beaten it, the real challenge lies in getting gold/shiny gold medals and doing no hit and backwards run of stages, which is really time consuming. But yeah once you get good at the game, you can probably beat all the normal stages in one sitting.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Child of Eden
The Force Unleashed series are rather short, no?

Besides VC games that's all I can think of.

I haven't really come across anything THAT short, but I'm sure there are some especially on XBLA and PSN.

I've beaten a couple games in one long/two medium length evenings: Halo ODST and Arkham Asylum.

Super Mario 3D Land probably. I didn't do it in one sitting but it was super short.
