You mean all three? I ended up getting two of the three (the third one, the bad ending, is gotten by choosing to escape the island on the dragon). I plan to do another playthrough soon, but I'm currently enthralled with Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition.

Stark, Anodyne is a weird game. I love its visuals and its playstyle, but I have no idea what is really going on. Some of the music I find jarring, and some I find lovely. But there's a disturbing backbone with that one that unsettles me while I play. It's good, but odd.

Good. I only like the game when I got the first two endings (i.e., the standard one and the bad one). I fell in love with it trying for the good ending, however.

Cool thanks for the thoughts. I'll probably wait for a Humble Bundle or Steam sale.

So...yeah. I've been a bit busy lately on Steam. That summer sale came through, and I picked up a bunch of titles to play. All of this has also been punctuated with playing through Terraria, the Killing Floor Summer Sideshow, and Monaco with a few friends. Of all of these, Hotline Miami has been my favorite. That game completely blew me away in terms of how much I enjoyed it. The gameplay was fast-paced and addictive, I loved the music, and finding new ways to swiftly pound someone's face in while worrying about the guy with a shotgun strolling around the corner...oh, the stress level was intense. And totally worth playing.

Hotline Miami is badass! Can't wait for 2.

It's fascinating seeing all the ways people describe Hotline Miami. Ack calls it a beat 'em up. I've also heard people call it a top down shooter or a puzzle game. I think each of those descriptions have some merit. Personally after having spent hours upon hours with the game, I think it is a stealth game at its core, but I understand why it gets compared to those other genres. It's a credit to how diverse and original it is that people classify it in different ways.

I'm eagerly awaiting Hotline Miami 2 as well.

Divinity: Dragon Commander PC

This is such an interesting game. It takes place in the Divinity universe, one that is apparently very much loved by a lot of people, but I had never heard of it before. The game blends role-playing elements with both turn and real time based strategy gameplay, along with the ability to fly around as a dragon. The game has lots of different mechanics, but, they're not fleshed out as much as in other games that focus on them. That said, the steampunk aesthetic, good music, good voice acting, and general variety actually ends up making the game very compelling. That's not to say the game is a great game, it really isn't. Just a good game that happened to be very compelling for me. It feels a lot like an older PC game too, which isn't a bad thing. It's really hard to describe. It's a pretty intangible sensation, but it's there. It's only $40 and available on GoG for anybody that thinks they might be interested in it. I certainly found it was worth my money. The main campaign takes about 12 hours to complete, and, there is a big emphasis on the online mode as well.
Older. Not wiser.

30. Rage - The Scorchers [DLC] - PC
31. Super Metroid - WiiUVC (SNES)
32. Borderlands 2 - Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt [DLC] - PC

Total for 2013: 29

Rage - The Scorchers [DLC] - PC
What a waste. It is like 5 small missions, one of which is just a rehash of the games 'arena' mode and a new gun. Very obvious that it should have been released along with the game (it was apparently removed for the game to meet its deadline), but to sell it at anything about a buck or two is overpaying. The only good thing is it allows you to keep playing after the game is finished, something that should have been free via a patch anyway.

Super Metroid - WiiUVC (SNES)
I have finished the NES version of the game, but have never been lucky enough to find Super Metroid (or Metroid II for that matter) at a decent price for a cart. Well with this 30c promotion I had to get into it.

I loved every second of it, I think it stands toe to toe with the original really well and surpasses it in many ways. The controls were pretty much perfect (I used the Wii U Pro controller) as were the graphics, gameplay and everything else.

Was shattered when I finished it.

Borderlands 2 - Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt [DLC] - PC
This DLC may be the worst DLC for any Borderlands game, other than Mad Moxxi's. Really dull missions with no real character to them. Fairly straight forward, more BL2, but just boring. It was also wicked short compared to the last two.

Actually, if I really wanted to define Hotline Miami, I'd say it is a top-down Fuck 'Em Up. HM has the distinction of the first game that wholly drove me to earn every achievement. I would agonize over each floor, wondering the best way to brutally murder everyone. My longest kill streak came on the police station, where I eventually learned to wipe the whole floor in one long, murderous rampage. I love that game, and I also cannot wait for a sequel.

I agree with you totally on everything there. I actually recently got the Platinum trophy myself. I do like the term Fuck 'Em Up. I think that should be an official new genre

I loved the Tiger mask that makes your punches lethal. I essentially played most of the game like a beat 'em up. It's high risk, but can create amazing combos with a little luck and memorization
