Sure, but I've also picked up a decent number of games from the Target clearance shelf for $8-12. Gamestop has $10 and under racks of used games for both systems.

I tend to do most of my shopping online though, and you can find quite a lot for under $20 there.

you can find used copies of tons of awesome ps3 and 360 games now for $10-$15. I just got both arkham asylum GOTY and Arkham City GOTY for around $10 each and they have all the DLC. It seems like alot of people are dumping their ps3 and 360 systems and collections to pay off pre orders for the next gen systems, so yeah prices are approaching the bottom.

Every time is the time for PS3 collecting.
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

most big box stores are often overpriced unless there is a sale, they are very slow to adapt to price changes. I often find copies of games that came out a year ago and are still priced at the full $60 where as online you can get it new for like $20-$30 and way less used. My advice is hit craigslist right now or shop online or smaller game trading stores, lots of people just trying to dump their stuff for whatever they can get to pay off those ps4 and xbox one preorders. I'm just now getting into the AAA titles that i passed on a few years ago that can be had for dirt cheap now, like those Batman games (btw i really can't recommend those games highly enough, one of the best games for me this gen for sure, glad to see beat em ups are still a thing now)

Crack? Maybe bud and shrooms and once in a blue moon some DMT but no crack. But seriously all i'm saying is that it's not on the PS2 level which he's trying to portray. To me collecting time means 80%+ of the games are under $25 like the PS2, PSP, GBA, GC and so on.
Jesus Christ, you are ruining your sites rep so much.

Really? It still is a current-gen console. With that a lot of prices still are close to retail.

It really feels like more of a time to start collecting PS2. Gamecube already had the bump because of Nintendo nostalgia, but PS2 had such an enduring life-cycle that you can still get some titles in some Gamestops, thrift stores, yard sales. Combine that with the fact that the "nostalgia" factor has yet to set in and prices seem to be pretty low for 90% of the games.

Right now PS2 is old, not vintage. That seems to be the sweet spot for collecting. PS3 is still going pretty strong and I bet the floor is 2-3 years out.

I would agree the golden age of PS3 collecting hasn't arrived yet.

I would say, however, that 360 is right about there.

There's your problem. I can get on Amazon right now and find loads of games for well under $20 brand new. Games from last year, HD collections, GOTY editions, etc. You could always wait and get it used for a bit cheaper, but why not pony up a tiny bit more for a sealed game right now? You never know what might suddenly go out of print and rise in value over time.

I mean, I'm sure I'll still be buying PS3 games 5-10 years from now, but if all you want is cheap games, they're out there right now.

All that being said. I would definitely put a higher priority on "collecting" for other consoles at the moment over the PS3. The PS3 is newer, so you really don't need to be in that much of a rush.
