I'm about to start buyin import anime games,I have Questions

Post by SamuraiMegas »

I'm planning on buying the cowboy bebop and furred lagann games for sure, but there are other series games I want to get some of too.
Games from series I want to buy:
Ruroni Kenshin
One Piece
Soul Eater
Yu Yu Hakosho.
I want to know which are good/bad,cheap,rare etc. I also already know about the Jump! games so no need to mention those.

Edit: And Bobobobobo games too.

Skip the PS1 Cowboy Bebop game, it's a subpar rail shooter bearing no resemblance to the show.

These are the YYH games to look into. The franchise got some excellent games. None of them are particularly expensive but the Treasure one.

YYH Final: Makai Saikyou Retsuden (SFC, better than the Treasure fighter to me)
Tokubetsu Hen (SFC)
Makyou Touitsusen (Genesis, the Treasure fighter everyone knows about)
YYH Forever (PS2 fighter)
YYH Ankoku Bujutsu Kai (PS2 fighter, debatable which one is better, but both are great)

The GB games, GBA games, the DS game, and the other SFC games are okay too, but nothing remarkable. Avoid the Dark Tournament PS2 fighter if you can, it's pretty bad, especially compared to the other PS2 games.

Check out Ghost In The Shell on PS1 and PS2. Definitely my favorite anime license games.

@bruno Well aware of how mediocre both games are, I love the series and don't care.

One I really enjoyed was Battle Robot Retsuden for the Super Famicom. I think it's a spin off of Super Robot Wars (although I'm not certain about that) and it has characters and machines from several different Mecha series. I keep hoping for a fan translation, but so far, I haven't found one.

Also, Gundam Battle Assault for the PS1 and Gundam Side Story 0079 for the Dreamcast are both excellent. DragonBall Advanced Adventure for the GBA is another one I would highly recommend.

Are you prepared for the things necessary to be able to play these imports?

I believe my local game store does modding, and if they don't, I'm planning on learning soldering with my dads help.

You should look at what's involved with whatever systems beforehand. Some are super easy, some are not.

Well, for 8-16 bit era, I'm buying a Retron5 most llikely, so I won't need anything for that. My Wii is soft modded already, so I can play import Gamecube and Wii games. PS2- I'll likely buy another slim model to mod, or see if Game Trade does mods and that would cover PS1 as well. Gameboy-DS: Region free. Dreamcast- Swap trick or boot disc, maybe a mod.
Ps3: Region free already, I believe. If not, I won't bother. 360: Won't bother.
N64: Not much I want.
Saturn: Action replay cart. oXbox: Mod, I guess.
I think that covers everything well.
