how so? I would assume your retro stores carried retro games? The most 'retro' games that GS carries is the PS2 stuff they're trying to purge right now.
Probably more of a mom & pop used game store that also happened to stock older games. If their bread & butter was trying to compete with GS on recent used games, I can see why they fail.

Good-Walked in to GS and found some sought after WII games for much less than what they are going for.

Shit I knew a place who had better prices on what they sold and gave more money for trade-in, and they STILL got beaten down by Gamestop.

I'd like to know if the frequent occurrences of last-minute swapping of the CIB you took off the shelf for a plain case with no manual is just ignorance, or store policy. I have had them try this on me almost every time, although I rarely buy from there.

I may have already mentioned this years ago, but I had something even worse. I bought a new game, and specifically told them I wanted it new, despite their repeated attempts to get me to save $5 on a used copy. I get home and they had swapped my new copy for a revealed, used copy. I had used a gift card and lived out of state, so I never went back. At least the copy was in near mint condition, otherwise I would have tried to swap at a local store.

Well that's a shame. I wish we had something like that, here. But most of the mom & pop shops are even worse than GameStop when it comes to trade-ins.

They were around here before the local Gamestop(s) opened. Customers just kinda slowly stopped coming in.

All it takes is a little competition to run someone out of business.

"This town isn't big enough for the both of us" still applies.

Just so we're clear here, I'm blaming my fellow citizens for deciding not to shop at the better store, not blaming Gamestop.

That said, fuck Gamestop.

Man the GameStop around here is doing a crappy job stocking the more "obscure" titles. They never had Muramasa Rebirth in stock (except for maybe pre-orders), nor do they have Time and Eternity.
