For some odd reason this made me chuckle.

Tried this over the weekend:

You take Italian sausage and pound it out flat. In the meantime roast a bell pepper. Cook the sausage in an cast iron skillet with a weight on top of it so it stays flat. Place the sausage on a bolillo roll, and top with provolone cheese and slices of the roasted bell pepper.

Great deals at the Fresh Market today, so it might be bacon cheddar burger night.
I know, not healthy, but delicious it is.

Going to make a batch of my "default chili" tonight. Some would say "too damn hot outside for chili", but actually the peppers and spices in the chili provide a cooling effect after the heat wears off.

edit* Tip: never cut the ends of asparagus off. Rather hold the end, and bend. The fibrous part will snap off and leave you with the perfect end.

*wonders why asparagus came up in conversation about Chili...*

Hence the largely separated paragraphs, and I didn't want to double post.

Since we have some action in this thread again...

Last night I made fettuccine from scratch, and served it with cherry tomatoes and basil from my "garden" (just a bunch of pots), topped with fresh mozzarella and olive oil. Love simple dishes.

Chicago style hot dogs tonight.

had me scared for a minute there, yo.

LOVE Chico style hot dogs! We've got a place nearby called LuckyDogs that serves em. Very good stuff, but I can only imagine a real Chicago street vendor's dog would be way awesome-er.

Poppy seed bun
100% Vienna Beef hot dog
Steamed Spanish onions
Yellow Mustard
Two sport peppers
Two Pickled Green Tomatoes (never fresh tomatoes, blech)
One dill pickle slice
Celery salt
Neon green Vienna relish

Nestled by salted crinkle cut french fries. There is no other way to eat 'em.

I also fancy a Southern style hot dog since I've been in the south for so long.

Steamed bun
Weird and super cheap hot dog that is pink on the outside and grey in the center
"Chili" (I think it's mostly bean curds, but it is delicious)
Yellow mustard
Onions
"Slaw"
Nestled next to more slaw and hush puppies

I haven't had Product 19 in what seems like forever. It's been so long that I don't even remember if I like it or not. Time to find out.

Homemade sloppy joe's are the best. Had 'em last night with a side salad and grilled corn on the cob, followed by roasted marshmallows over the fire pit.

I think we're making vegetarian burritos tonight. I kind of prefer them over most meat filled burritos as the flavor of the meat gets lost with all the fillers. Black beans, brown rice, sharp cheddar, pico de gallo, cilantro, avocado, habanero sauce, diced cucumber, and a hint of lime juice.

I love me some sloppy joes. My friend Jackie told me to put cole slaw on my joe once. I scoffed at her. I mean can you imagine? Mixing watery mayonnaise from cole slaw with the tomatoey saucy goodness from a sloppy joe? I mean yeah its called a SLOPPY joe, but come on over here.

She said "just try it jackhole." It was amazing.

I love Jackie.

A hotdog bun with biscof spread on it...I hate throwing food away and my wife doesnt want to eat the bevy of extra hotdogs we have from the fourth of July. So I froze the dogs and am eating the buns at lunch instead of using sandwich bread.
