I don't know man, he killed a guy for not living the black metal lifestyle. The black metal lifestyle wasn't even defined yet.

Uh... that wasn't quite the reason Varg killed Euronymous. They were having a feud of some sort. Euronymous was completely off his rocker as well anyway, if you've never read any of his letters or anything. Guy fired the bass player in Mayhem for wanting attend Dead's funeral after the infamous suicide. He allegedly attempted to poison a Polish zine editor who stayed with him for a while. There's the whole "skull fragment necklace" thing, etc.

Besides, the "lifestyle," themes, attitude, etc of black metal was defined way back in the 80s. Venom, Hellhammer, early Bathory, etc all had that groundwork layed out long before the time the Scandanavian brand of black metal started.

I was half joking. Varg's a crazy son of a bitch, and I honestly can't say I have an issue with them arresting him. I don't really know much about the whole early scene or anything.

All I know is that I wouldn't have been black metal enough.



I am doom metal enough though. (Referring to the 101 Rules of ____ Metal series on various websites. The Doom rules, however, go up to about a 1000 because the people on doom-metal.com have no lives. The Power Metal and Black Metal lists are both pretty good.)

I find those lists to be incredibly silly and can't imagine that anyone actually follows them.

They are intended to be silly, of course. Part of the fun. I'm mixing the Power and Doom rules so I can be epically doomful.

I only mean "crazy/stupid but not crazy/stupid enough to actually go on a mass killing spree."

When I say "not that crazy" I don't mean to downplay stuff he's done in the past, I mean to highlight how mass murder is a whole different level.

Apparently those guns his wife was buying were .22s. Unless Varg's planning on killing a bunch of squirrels I'm not sure what sort of mass murder you're gonna do with that.

A .22 round will go through someone as easy as a .30-06 or a .45 will. I believe a lot of modern day snipers use .227 rounds. A .223 was used in the recent Sandy Hook shooting. The caliber of the firearm is pretty much irrelevant when talking about this issue.

It's not like I have anything against him and am outrageously against anything he's done. I'm just saying if it were my call and I was monitoring him under suspicion of dangerous activity, and he suddenly got access to several firearms, I would arrest him too. It's pretty hard to look past the convicted murder thing.

It's not like I've said anything to the contrary anyway. Just saying I doubt he's actually plotting mass murder. This is likely being done as a precautionary measure until they have more info.

Obivously, they've been keeping tabs on him, which they probably should.
