Both my current and new cards have DVI-I (dual link) connectors. The only difference is the new one uses a DMS59-to-dual DVI adapter while the current one connects directly to the monitor, which has a DVI-D (dual link) input, using a DVI-D (single link) cable. I don't understand what's going on with the new card and it's DMS59 business but it seems to be preventing it working with this monitor. I also get no display using a DVI-I (dual link) to VGA adapter with the DMS59-to-DVI adapter with a VGA monitor. It's extremely frustrating. I just want to play games at an FPS > 15...
The monitor is an HP L1750 and the new card is GALAXY MDT GeForce GT 520
Both cards are PCI Express
I've used the new card with a newer monitor and it worked without issue (except for periodic blackness with demanding games like BioShock).

Re: DVI/VGA monitor works with one DVI card but not another
It looks like it might be DVI-I and include Digital and Analog, but I'd check the card specs and also the monitor. If it is spitting out Digital only and the monitor only takes analog, that would be the problem. Obviously VGA is analog, so since you say it won't work with the convertor and a VGA monitor, that might be the issue.

Re: DVI/VGA monitor works with one DVI card but not another
The Amazon description for your card specifically states that it is only compatible with digital display options, not VGA. So, that likely explains that part. HP's spec page does claim the DVI plug is DVI-D though.
Re: DVI/VGA monitor works with one DVI card but not another
It's probably the resolution. Is there a way to get around this?
Re: DVI/VGA monitor works with one DVI card but not another
Simultaneously hooked the new card up to the compatible monitor as well as the one I'm having issues with. Changing to HP monitor's recommended resolution and refresh rate didn't do it. Played around with the detection functions of the card's included software. The HP monitor didn't show up at all and couldn't be detected with any of it's special methods. Looks like there's no way this old monitor will work with this card. Shame.
