There's plenty of "generic brown shooters" that have already been forgotten.

Yes they were.ZeoDefender wrote: That may be true, but those generic platformers weren't popular. It was the unique and creative platformers that stood out in those days. The same can't be said of brown shooters today.
So were the me-too fighters, FMV games, and so on. Nevermind that a fair number are still fondly remembered due to nostalgia, even if they weren't particularly special.
It's just the difference between looking back and recognizing what stood the test of time, and seeing everything as it comes out.

Not everyone lives on the bleeding edge of tech, rushes out to buy the latest thing the day it comes out.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

I don't really think of old games as old games, or new games as new games. They are just games. I think it would be weird if someone played old games simply because they were old, it's kind of weird to think about lol
Life is as good as your game!

Agree. I don't read Shakespeare because it's old (or because it is an assigned reading for my classes/courses), I read it because I'm curious. Same goes to video games, I play them because I'm curious be it released yesterday or decades ago.Boaradoor wrote:I don't really think of old games as old games, or new games as new games. Perhaps. Perhaps. We'll just have to wait and see which modern games stand the test of time.isiolia wrote:Yes they were.ZeoDefender wrote: That may be true, but those generic platformers weren't popular.
