Nah, most people who live in large cities have no issues. I just had a tricky employment previously. If I took those out, the one I previously described would be the only one. I currently live in the middle of no where, so I have no fear whatsoever of being mugged... It also helps that the sheriff across the street.

Good lord! How many times have you been mugged?!
Multiple people have tried. None have succeeded. One of the times in New York was ended when the guy pulled out his gun and several of my friends who were there with me took care of him. They were all Marine Special Operations who had just arrived back from a tour of Afghanistan that day.
Well Fast, you're now on my "don't piss off" list so I don't have to worry about your SO buddies.

Not really, since it's been going around. In fact, it was shortly after my brother's ex came back from the Outer Banks, where my uncle's girlfriend had it.

On the test of life, sometimes you have to show your work and deal with essay questions.
"What research" is what I should be asking. I've glanced over a few of your posts about the subject and mostly ignored it but the last one was too much. I mean, the whole situation you've painted with yourself is beyond puzzling to me. Why someone in financial danger would put themselves in a situation where they are living out of a motel eating bacon bits just simply eludes me.

Do you really think acting like a "native New Yorker" is going to do anything but piss native New Yorkers off? It's bleedingly obvious and very annoying when people do it. And the bloods and the crips thing, unless you are roaming around the streets at night in the ghetto throwing up gang signs to every group of people you see hanging on a porch, I am 99% sure you have nothing to worry about with gang violence towards you.

You're over thinking it all.
I'm not living off of "bacon bits". I've got some Easy Mac, Hot Pockets and microwaveable noodles, among other things. And I'm not living in a motel room for shits and giggles. We had to leave our place in Vista Del Lago after my mom's application, and then that of my brother and his girlfriend, were all rejected. And the only two people left were me and my grandmother, but we wouldn't be able to afford to live there. We've also been having problems finding a place to live since this move was basically done on a hope and a prayer. I only chose to move since I figured it'd help my move to New York City. I mean, a big city versus a small town? I thought there'd be more jobs, but it took me a couple of months just to settle for working at Disney, and even then I'll ultimately end up making far less than I did at my old jobs. I'll have to basically try to get more shifts at my job, and then try to find a second job.

And when I decided to move, it was more of a choice between being poor in a small town or having a chance at a better life in a big city.

Says someone who has never lived in a large city...

There are benefits and drawbacks to both. Small towns are probably better for raising a family, but I did not want to live in one when I was a young man, and I probably will not want to live in one when I retire.

More like says someone who frequently complains about how there's very few employment opportunities and how limited his social circle is.

Are you actually certain you like small towns, Forlorn? :P

My friends grew up in Anson and they couldn't wait to leave.

Basically. I'm a rare breed that grew up in a relatively small town (~10,000) but even that was too much for me and I managed to find an even smaller town (~3,000) to seclude myself to. But, I've been to several big cities and all over the US (well, particularly the East) and there are definitely things that are positives in big cities. Just not an environment I would want to live in permanently, especially an extreme case like NYC.
