Over the weekend I hit several yard sales in my area with zero success. Actually worse than zero, I inquired at one yard sale about any old video games they might be willing to sell and the gentleman replied: "We had a box of Atari & Nintendo games, but the kids didn't want them so we put the box out with the trash three weeks ago."

I then stopped by a one day flea market hosted by a local VFW chapter. As I was getting ready to leave, I spied the distinctive XBox green case amidst tools at a table. Scored the following CIB for $1 each:

Conker: Live & Reloaded
Fable
Star Wars: Battlefront II (with a loose Gladius disc inside!)

I don't bother with XBox games, so I gave them to a friend starting up his XBox collection for $3.

Since I was in the area, I stopped by a nearby Savers. This Savers is a craps-shoot for anything retro-gaming related. They get alot of stuff in being in Boston, but video games of worth get picked clean extremely fast.

Luck was on my side as I found five CIB Atari games sitting on a shelf mixed in with PC software. Snagged all five for $4 each. I love the artwork on Atlantis/Cosmic Ark.

Quarth is a fun shmuzzle game.
Agree, a sweet game combining Tetris and a bottom shooter. I discovered it on a bootleg multi game NES cart full of Famicom games, no idea why it never got a NES US release. Come to think about it the only official release other then emulated on Virtua Wii Console is that GB cart, which in itself makes it a nice collectable.

The game literally looks like the plastic wrap had just been taken off and stuck on the shelf, and I know that this thrift store for whatever reason does open new items and stick them out on the shelf. I don't know if it is to insure that there is a full game in there or something.
Very nice, you should post a bragging picture of the sealed Final Fantasy game. Oh go ahead and bust that game open. The only way to be sure it is complete and if the game works. You wouldn't want to do that twenty years later and discover an issue when the game is even more harder to find.

One thing I can never figure out with collectors is why the Black label is sought after more then the Greatest Hits version for any system. The connotation that a black label is more valuable seems silly to me.

The newer GH Label is only produced when tons of the Black Labels are sold. The GH label usually are less in circulation and in the case of PS2 games, sometimes includes extra levels. On the PS2 Black Label's defense, it usually has thicker paper for the manual, cover and sometimes color pages over the GH manuals which sometimes are in plain black ink pages. Not sure on PS1 Green Labels as far as extra features in the disc, but some do have revisions with bug fixes.

Madden 2000 N64 (loose) $.99

Florida sucks for retro game hunting. Only retro games i've ever seen at this thrift shop.
Hey that is okay, you scored on the Gamecube game. Even the Madden cart is a good price. The back of the cart can be used in case you find an import N64 game and do not want to import mod your console.

Very very nice! The Atari 5200 is a great system, that game is perfect if you ever come across a 5200 Trakball. What were the other four titles?
Teh Lurv wrote:Last week I came across in a box my old Intellivision and game collection hidden in a storage closet. I was one of the few kids that was still playing on an Intellivision in 1987-1988. I found in the storage box several game boxes I somehow neglected to throw away as a child. Rummaging through the box I was able to reconstruct 4 CIB Intellivision games.
Great story! I wish I could find games lost from my youth like that. With that history you really should get that console fixed or get a replacement. What exactly is wrong with it, might be a simple repair such as a broken wire inside the power lead or something. Congrats on the games in your other replies as well. Those boxes look crisp new!

For anyone posting, maybe always type in the game titles so the Reply can be found later in a Search? This helps and might come in handy in case a collector might be looking up a particular title, especially one that is CIB as that beautiful complete 5200 Centipede game.

I got Lufia II CIB for $65.

The same guy had Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy III, and a ton of other good SNES RPGs, all CIB, that he sold the day before for $20 -$30 each. I missed out.

I also god castlevania Legends for $8. Not bad.

As a Genesis guy it's kind of a sin that I didn't have this one already. It never clicked with me in the past but it's a popular favorite with a lot of people.

CIB for ten bucks was too sweet to say no to though. It's not a steal or anything but I'm happy.
