I got to meet LeVar Burton (I actually made him laugh heartily!) and Wil Wheaton, but I really wanted to meet Patrick Stewart. Guy never came to his damn booth. He was too busy with photo ops and VIP people. I'd be willing to stand in line for quite a while to meet Stan, but I'm worried that it will be another Pat Stew experience because of that.
A couple years ago at Dragoncon, LeVar Burton had the hotel room next to hours and we ran into him a dozen times during the show. We invited him to dinner with us and he declined, but he came by to hangout later that night. After that years convention I was going to dinner with a group of folk I use to work with and Neil Kapalin (Voice of Optimus Prime in Robots in Disguise and Tychus Findlay in Starcraft 2) and when we were leaving one of the hotels Patrick Stewart was standing around and I just asked if he wanted to come with. He did, but said no pictures. It was a great time. We talked about John LeCarre novels, specifically the 1979 version of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy in which he played Karla.

I did get to meet Stan Lee a couple years later, but only for a few seconds. My wife and I were waiting for someone and he walked by but his escort/bodyguard got separated from him by medical staff so he hid beside us for a few seconds. He told us thank you and was on his way.

No, no, I know you will protest this, but consider:

Do you really think it's possible you know a stand-up comedian who reviews movies AND runs a yarn company that can beat that many video games while looking that snazzy in a top hat?

Yeah, no. Like I said, he's not a real person. Luke is a machine.

The idea of taking more than 20 minutes to even get to the opposite end of town is just foreign to me.
Someone once told me that New York is vertical while Houston is horizontal. Having been in both cities that's a pretty good description of it.

Its not related to any of that, which I still disagree with ya'll on, you pompous ass.

This is a religious issue. I didn't exactly point it out because most here wouldn't understand.

Your religion doesn't allow sarcasm?

Believe it or not, EVERYONE goes thru a period where they question every facet about every religion. Or, at least everyone should.

My in-laws give me the church talk on every visit. EVERY visit. I don't have the heart to tell them their daughter has zero faith in anything but "things happen".

I've taken several courses in theology, and although I'll keep my personal religious views private, I will say I do believe we know dick about existentialism and that human kind is still a fish out of water that's wet behind the ears.

As people we've done some incredible things, but like our own planet's ocean, we're lucky to know 5% of what is out there or what is possible.

How was I supposed to know that was sarcasm? Text doesn't hold vocal inflection.

Its not an issue with my religion itself, as much as a certain aspect of it I have trouble understanding.

There are a lot of religious people on these boards, and there are a lot of non-religious people here that have studied religion extensively. Moreover, I think the members here are - by and large - mature enough to address your questions seriously and non-judgmentally.

That said, religion can evoke heated arguments, and it may be best to ask your question via PM. (You can send one to me if you would like, and I am certain that other members would volunteer as well.)
