R-Type isn't on the NES is it?..... I've only played it on SMS and C64 - I know there are a bunch of other ports but I don't ever recall it on NES.
I've played many games that are available on both the NES and SMS and I always like the NES version better. The only exceptions are ports of Sega arcade games - the SMS versions of Alien Syndrome and Shinobi are way better than those Tengen NES versions.
Now wait let me explain. I don't want to ruin this thread or tick anyone off. Luke: If you go to gamefaqs.com there is an invincible code for r-type for the sms. Bone: I didn't mean exactly that R-type is on the nes. I know that it's not. The games I have played on the nes and sms that are the same that the sega master system is better in graphics but the nes is better in sound is Rampage alien syndrome after burner paperboy ghostbusters shinobi strider These are the games that I own on both consoles and in my own opinion I think the sega versions look better but the nes sounds better. I know there are a lot more games that came out for both consoles. I went online and here is a list of games that are on the sms and nes and tell me what you think are better versions after burner alien 3 alien syndrome little mermaid back to the future 2 and 3 battletoads or called battlemaniacs on sms bubble bobble California games cool spot crash dummies dick tracy double dragon fantasy zone gauntlet George forman ghostbusters Jurassic park klax micro machines ms.pac man ninja gaiden? ( Is this the same as nes version) operation wolf pac-mania paperboy prince of Persia rampage rainbow islands renegade spiderman return of sinister six star wars strider super off road super smash tv simpsons bart vs the world simpsons bart vs space mutants terminator winter Olympics wwf steel cage challenge Those are all the games that are on the nes and sms that I can tell. I'm really curious about ninja gaiden. I know most of these were imports on the sms and I never played them them but on ebay these game were made for the master system. If anyone has copies of both versions of the same game on the nes and sms. Please let me know if there the same, better, worse whatever. For me so far I think the master system has better graphics but the nes has better sound.
I just finished playing through the entire US Master System Catalog for my Encyclopedia series on the iPad, and the game that really stuck out for me was Wonder Boy 3.
To me Wonder Boy 3 is the best game on the system, and one of the best games of the 8-Bit era. The graphics, music, and the RPG elements all fit together perfectly. Even though it's nearly 25 years old, it still holds up really well. It's a shame that it's one of those games that doesn't get much respect or fanfare these days. And there's always the good memories of firing up the power base converter and staying up to the wee hours of the morning during the summer trying to find those hidden doors.

I never even thought to emulate it - maybe this summer when I have time.
Its ok if its pal. the sms is region free. I would rather buy a rare gem like ninja gain for 70.00 or so than trying to collect rare nes games and just say i have them and never play them.

Holy cow, you're right. I feel like I should own a monocle or borrow a Racketeer's top hat.
The sms version of Ninja Gaiden is kind of like Bionic Commando and Zillion had a video game baby. The NES version is so much better, but I guess the rarity of the sms version demands a higher price.
So I guess the "no game" game on the Power converter doesn't exist. I still love the "no game" game.
