Are sorcerers really powerful? I've heard people say the player avatar is great in that class
Nosferatu (and the upgraded version) is the best weapon in the game due to the self healing, so your Sorcerer becomes effectively invincible. That's what makes Sorcs so well regarded.

In terms of worries about making a mistake, unless you are trying to do a no-grind playthrough you can't really make an irreversible mistake. Since the game has infinite exp if you end up picking a class you don't like you can just grind that character until they're high enough to class change to something better.

Next Chrono Trigger update:

I've freed Melchior and gotten the ruby knife. Fun times! So more and more major revelations are appearing (that little kid...you know the one I'm talking about...totally gave himself away from the first line that he said to me). I look forward to seeing how all this wraps up, but I get the feeling that there will be many questions I just won't get answered concerning the origin of Lavos, unless it gives some sort of schpiel right at the end. I hope they don't do that last minute "here's everything" kind of crap.

Anyway, moving on to my party's overall strength: Chrono, Ayla, and Frog are my main team. While I lost the triple tech I had with Robo, I gained a more powerful character who has a heal and can perform some devastating single and double techs. My characters are all in the low 30s now, level wise. And both Chrono and Frog are working on their last techs now, so I should have Luminarie pretty soon! Ayla has another tech before she begins learning her final one, but if I keep running across these late game enemies that are giving me 25+ tech points, it shouldn't take too long.

Awesome. I like that this game makes it hard to screw up. I promoted my avatar to Grandmaster and leveled him back up to 15. I also used my second seal on Donnel, made him a Merc. I started leveling him back up. He's at level 10 and his stats are close to surpassing Frederick!

Donnel ends up as a god. At the end of his game he was almost 10 points higher in every stat then the rest of my army at the same level (except resistance, where he was still well above average).

Spoilers for later characters (paralogue 5 or higher):
Having Donnel as a father and waiting til the end of the game to recruit his child makes his child ludicrous too. I paired up Donnel with Cordelia, and when I recruited Severa near the end of the game her stats were only just below my main team of level 15 promotes, despite her being a level 10 mercenary. I could've stuck her in my team on the final level and she'd have done fine.

Donnel is a beast in my game too. I ended up making him a fighter and then eventually promoted him to Hero and he just destroyed everything in his path.

I beat FE:A a few minutes ago! Loved it!!! I will definitely be doing another play through in a year or two on the harder difficulty.

Thanks for the update! I enjoy reading it. I plan on playing Chrono Trigger as my next RPG. We'll see how burnt out I am on the genre after I finish up FF7. I've never played Chrono Trigger (I know, I know...).

As for my current FF7 run, I just finished up at Corel Prison and received the buggy. I went to the training area in Junon and did some mini-grinding. Cloud is now level 40, and I think I'll just progress with the story (I think my next stop is Gongaga Village...been awhile since I last played through FF7).

Although I'm debating on hitting up the Golden Saucer first and trying the Battle Arena to get the Sprint Shoes and Champion Belt. Not sure if it's worth the headache of getting the damn GP to enter. I hate most of the games there, and the only decent one at this point in the game is the basketball shooting game. In my initial run of FF7 way back in '97, I pretty much skipped most of the games in the Golden Saucer. But I missed out on some great items, so I want to get those this time around.

Relax, no reason to worry. I've never beaten Chrono Trigger before (this is the farthest I have ever gotten), so don't beat yourself up over it. I find that usually an RPG is best enjoyed after a brief break to beat another game or two, so after FF7 sit down with a different genre to refresh and then come back. Truthfully there was a long stretch of years where I thought I was burnt out and the genre was just too long to go back to...and then I finally sat down with one I owned that I decided to get through and now I've been knocking them off in droves. Secret of Mana, Ys III, The 7th Saga, Breath of Fire, not to mention various PC games, and that's just this year alone. I look forward to adding more to this list as I continue.

I keep threatening Bone that I'll play through Lagoon after this...

Only reason I'm gonna say "go ahead and play it" is because it's mercifully short. Ever play Ys II? It's about the same length - a bit under 10 hours.

Nice and short. Like 6 hours. You can beat it in one sitting if you're motivated enough.
