Re: Summer Game Challenge 2013 - Begin when ready!
Update:
On stage 80 of Sutte Hakkun. I had to skip two because they were not possible. One requires three perfect executed moves in quick procession that I simply cannot do.
Swapped out Back to the Future for Master Quest of Zelda 1 - going super NES heavy...
New list:
1. Iron Brigade - PC
2. Adventures of Lolo - NES
3. Zelda 1 Master Quest - NES
4. Stacking - PC
5. Blaster Master - NES
6. Mother 3 - GBA
7. Prince of Persia Sands of Time - PC
8. The Cave - PC
9. Sutte Hakkun - SNES
10. Wonderboy in Monster World - Gen/MD

1) Alladin (MD)
2) Rolling Thunder 2 (MD)
3) Megaman X3 (PS1 version)
4) Flashback (MD)
5) Sonic CD
6)The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past (SNES)
7) Crash Bandicoot 2 (PS3 store version)
θ) Donkey Kong (GB)
9) ??
10) ??
I finished Donkey Kong. That was a really fun game. It's a shame the modern takes on the series (not the DKC series) don't try to be more platformers, and instead have turned into pure puzzle games. The platforming in this game was pretty tight

Having beatend SMB3 for the first time recently I can give you some advice on the last world. After the first two levels you will get to a bridge over fire on the overworld map. When you walk over the bridge a hand will randomly grab you and pull you into a short level. There are five of these and they are both short and relatively easy. At the end of each level you will get a Racoon Suit Leaf power up. You can move back and forth over these to farm for Leaves, up to five. Use these to pass the next few levels much easier by flying over the challenging sections. Once you get to the final castle it shouldn't take too many tries to figure out and beat the game. Good luck! PS: Looks like we are both playing through CT at the same time. I think CT is only supposed to be around 20 hours. From what I hear that's a good thing and there's not much filler!Ack wrote:In SMB3, I have access to the final world! But playing the game after DKC is difficult because the jumping feels so different. I have plenty of items but worry that I'm still going to get my butt kicked while I get used to how floaty everything feels.
Made some good progress on Chrono Trigger myself. The game really doesn't slow down too much, there's always something interesting happening to keep you going. I'm a little past first arriving at 12,000 BC. Really good times.
I cleared all the tracks in F-Zero on Beginner. I'm going to call it "beat" when I clear everything on Normal difficulty. Not much to say about the game, it's great. Really nice balance in the game design. If I lose I feel like it's completely my fault and not rubber banding or poor track design. I did get stuck dying over and over again at the jump in White Land II until I looked up the controls and learned you can pull the nose up on your vehicle when you are in the air to gain more distance.
A-B-P. A-always, B-be, P-platforming. Always be platforming! Always be platforming!!

Seeing all the endings (especially without a walkthrough) will likely take as long as it would to beat the game normally, or longer. You'll want the rainbow equipment if you're planning on seeing all the endings. I also wouldn't say it's entirely worth it unless a) you absolutely love the game, or b) you were playing the PS1 or DS version.Ack wrote:Perhaps this game won't be as bad of a time sink as I thought it would be, but once I beat it we will have to see how I feel about hunting down each ending.

Re: Summer Game Challenge 2013 - Begin when ready!
I started Ducktales last night after finagaling with the NES (Why are you blinking! I JUST cleaned you! WHY!). Only played for about half an hour while I got used to the controls and tried to master the pogo jump. I think the farthest I got was about half way through the amazon (I think a native speared me).
I died a lot, even on easy
But I suck at platformers, so that was expected. I did make steady progress each time I died, though. So yay me.
Cute game so far. I'm still trying to figure out how to not get hit by that bee once Lauchpad gives me a lift over that gap

Haha, that bee, that BEE!! I always get hit there too. Funny that one spot is so frustrating out of nowhere.Michi wrote:Cute game so far. I'm still trying to figure out how to not get hit by that bee once Lauchpad gives me a lift over that gap

There are two bees on the NES version that I plan on taking damage from, that don't bother me at all on the Gameboy port.
I make sure I have enough life for the hits. If you find the secret, pass it on.

Almost done with Dragon Warrior 1.
Probably play at least another RPG this summer since DW is really short. Thinking of restarting my KOTOR file since I haven't gotten far or maybe try out Mother 3.
Are Mother 3 roms in english, or you have to get a patch?
