Genesis model 1 and Sonic 2

The model one was the first system I actually owned after playing Nintendo at my neighbors house for a few years. I remember it came with the first Sonic. The second game is locked in a never ending struggle with Streets of Rage 2 as my favorite genesis game ever.

This thread really brings to light, that growing up I could have probably taken care of my systems better. Well, I was always very careful with them and they were in good shape hooked up, but we moved a ton growing up and so that probably did a lot, lost boxes, etc.

I burned through two NES's as a kid and my original SNES browned out terribly, then had some insane glitches with any SFX games or something so I inherited my grandparents one at some point, which is still in pretty top notch shape today. Now it sucks because it's even harder to come by full boxes of older systems.

I let my mom sell my Sega JVC at a garage sale when the N64 came out. Little did I know she would sell that plus games, 3 controllers (one 6 pad), and stuff, for $10, this in the 90's when it was probably worth a ton. My biggest regret!

So physically I probably can't really say. My original N64 is intact and the oXbox was the first console I bought with lawn money over one summer, still got that, but it's like my least favorite library looking back on it haha. I keep it around for the accomplishment I guess.

But I'll just say SNES, with the Genesis and NES following close behind in any random order. Nostalgia is the strongest with these. Certain games take me back and I can picture old places, old friends, everything.

I cherish my SNES/PSX collection, mostly top notch conditioned carts that I actually hunted down in stores over the years before getting lazy with Amazon/etc, and most of my PSX JRPG's are black label. Link to the Past takes the cake though, I own both the original and the best sellers release. Zelda OoT GOLD is probably the oldest thing I've kept in ultimate shape, CIB and everything (Majora's Mask too). I've just had those two specifically tucked away in this old desk for ages now. So I guess I cherish those a lot too. I sadly lost like all my SNES boxes over the years, and sold most of my N64 games a bit before I realized how trading in games was a huge waste.

I remember I traded in my SNES + 3 controllers and all my games (16) along with my Sega Genesis, 2 controllers and 13 games for the new N64 with Mario 64 . Probably had to be the worst deal ever DARN YOU FUNCO LAND!!

That's kind of what I did with my N64 games. I had like 20+, and traded them all in for Armored Core 2 and a memory card.

Stopped trading in after that.

My most cherished system is easily my SNES Jr. It was my first system, and after watching my neighbor / best friend play his for ages, my parents finally got me one for Christmas when I was 10. I can still remember playing Aladdin that morning for hours. I've had the console ever since, and it still works like a charm.

And favorite game would have to be Final Fantasy IX. I got a PSX for Christmas only a year or two after my SNES, along with Final Fantasy IX and Chrono Cross. I'll never forget my first playthrough of IX; the graphics were mesmerizing, the plot captivating, and the characters unforgettable, and it retains the same merit for me today.

I always took really good care of my systems/games when I was a kid. I was always confused/disgusted when I'd see other kids with duct tape holding their batteries in their Game Boy. None of my cases ever got thrown away, not even the cheap cardboard ones. I still had my boxes for my very first gaming console (Genesis) and my SNES up until Katrina. I even had all the boxes and manuals for my Pokemon games.

I don't think I can pick just one system/game. I loved them all so much and they each had a different impact on me. Genesis/Sonic 2 would be the easiest choice since those were MY first games bought for ME. However, I probably spent more time playing Pokemon Blue Version than any other game. The ability to play at home, at school, at the diner, made the Game Boy my most played system. I took damn good care of that thing, even without a protective case.

I can understand it now, but I couldn't when I was young. I'd always get angry and think "If you're not even going to take care of it, then give it to me!". Kinda a selfish little dick...

My poor brick game boy was horribly abused. Feel off of the balcony to our second story apartment a few times, among other things.

I still have it though. It's missing the back and a tad banged up looking, but it works fine.
