Time to get yourself a MSX (2), Sharp X68000, PC-9801 and FM Towns and start importing some games from Japan.
That's a pretty tall order!

I say those who want to experience Japanese games on a PC should start with those that were actually released in the US - Sorcerian, Ys I, and Zeliard for example.

After that - look into PC imports (like various Falcom games).

Japanese computers are for the truly hardcore gamers - even I don't own any (yet).

I'm going to be mildly optimistic here and say that I don't think Sony will charge for online multiplayer. The design of the PS4 seems to be very gaming focused, and since Nintendo is in slight trouble with the Wii U, and Microsoft is fucking up the Xbone harder than Nintendo fucked the N64 (seriously this always online thing and no used games feels like a bigger mistake than cartridges. Remember how nintendo wanted to keep them to fight off piracy?), it's a good chance for Sony to come out on top again.

As long as Valve or Apple don't enter the fray of course.

I thought that AppleTV had the ability to play iOS games?

It has the ability to do "airplay" on some games. That's about it.

I really don't think Apple will get into the fray in such a dedicated fashion. I think they are quite content with the whole App Store and gaming on iOS. Plus they have more important shit to worry about.

Simple. Elegant. Efficient. Innovative.

I would love to see Apple do for consoles what they did for phones.

Overcharge for them, introduce in the next upgrade what should have been in the previous one, and stop innovating around the 3rd iteration?

If you are saying, open up the market to a plethora of indies, thank god the PC is making sure that will bleed into consoles too. (sooner or later, if they don't want to go extinct they will have to adapt)
