The Sega Genesis controller works with the 7800 as well, yes?
Nope.

Yeah a nine-pin connector doesn't guarantee universal compatibility.

For instance, while you can use an Atari 2600 stick with a C64 you can't use it with a TI-99/4A.

Huh. Must be the 2600 I am thinking of...but I usually use my 7800, and I guess I'm a bit confused as I remember the Genesis pad being compatible.

Only one way to be sure (and it gives me an excuse to play Missile Command)...

Shortly after getting those I started seeking out more 7800 games and am now working on a complete set. Be wary the power of the Atari gamepad.
I too had a 7800 while all the cool kids had way better NES experiences. I learned to love Xevious a lot more as a result. I constantly had to reorder new 7800 sticks, so i could play that and Xenophobe. I'd get those pads now if I was going to seriously go back to playing it again.

As you can see from the pics, Xevious was one of the first games I picked up. It kicks ass!

I love getting a new console, it's like embarking on a journey.

The 7800 had some impressively solid arcade ports. Xevious is a great example.

Awesome! That is such a great game, and it definitely deserved a better home port.

Okay, remember how I said I was finished for the month? Well, I was wrong. I had to pick up a few things on the way home from work today and I ended up at the local gaming shop. I intended to just pick up a few Master System games (the clerk says I'm the only one who buys them so I intend to pick through them all until I have the ones I want). However, on the way up to the register I spotted this...

With these games...

I had to get it. The odds of me finding another Lynx "in the wild" again are slim. Hell, here in Maine I'm more likely to stumble upon a real lynx than an Atari lynx.

Oh and I did end up snagging a few SMS games too...
