Is there any point in playing JRPGs?

Post by JayJaySut »

I can't really get excited about JRPGs much nowadays. I want to like them because they have good stories and interesting worlds and all of these things but other than a few minor changes that don't get noticeable until four more games into the series they don't usually change much from game to game, they release new ones every year, and there the most popular genre in their country. It seems like they are the Japanese first-person shooter and as much as I want to get excited about games like FF7 I just can't because what does it really have that a thousand other JRPGs don't other than a better story but I don't play games for the story. The only time I'm interested is when there's one that has enough new ideas like Pokémon which has enough other things going for it. Are there any JRPGs out there that really change up the formula enough to be interesting?

Is there any point to playing video games? All of them just involve you manipulating an interface and seeing the results on a display.

I'd say so, playing JRPG's might increase your understanding of the English language and proper grammar/punctuation.

... sometimes. Not all translations are equal!
