Another Touhou 1cc: The Story of Eastern Wonderland, on normal. Not too tough, with some unusual enemies (a tank mid-boss in a Touhou game? ).

Played Judgment Silversword for the first time. Pretty awesome game. Working on clearing easy at the minute (getting close), had a few goes on Normal and Hard, which seem a lot tougher...

And finally DoDonPachi first loop clear! I was playing the PS1 version, so my final score was a bit crappy (36 million), and I only managed a 203 max chain, so I didn't qualify for the 2nd loop.

Oh, and another one: Blue Wish Resurrection on Heaven (easy) and Original difficulty. After clearing DDP, that one was pretty easy. :)

Raiden Legacy is now available on PC, and it's on GOG...

Is Zanac (NES) impossibly difficult, or am I just terrible? I'm really surprised by how much this game is kicking my ass.

It's got an "A.I." system which changes the frequency of enemies based on how well you're doing and how many shots you're firing, etc. Think of it as an early "rank" system mechanic, used in more modern shmups.

Just had a quick run on Zanac. Thought I was doing pretty well, I had 7 lives in stock at one point. Was playing for about 15 minutes, made it to Area 4. On the other hand, looking at a playthrough on YouTube, a full run takes almost 60 minutes, so there's a long way to go...

Meanwhile, I just beat the kick-ass doujin shmup Xeno Fighters R. It's mainly inspired by Raiden Fighters, but it borrows from loads of other games, including Twinbee, Parodius, Gemini Wing, Viper Phase, etc.

I thought I was done when I cleared Stage F-C, but instead, I was thrown into 'Stage WTF', against Black Heart from Battle Garegga!

Fortunately I had one life to spare, and enough bombs to get through it...

I've had Hitogata Happa for ages but never really gave it a proper look until yesterday. It rocks! I cleared Solo Voyage with the 'Lovers' character on Euridice (Easy) Mode. It is pretty easy with that character, her weapons are powerful enough that you shouldn't need to use the suicide attack. I might try clearing the normal game on Euridice, then see how I get on with Nobilmente (Normal) Mode.

It seems to be a game where people played Level 0, couldn't figure out the gameplay, and quit trying. I saw a thread somewhere for the PS3 version, saying that a lot of the scores on the high score table hadn't even cleared the first stage!

Hitogata Happa was my favorite of the Gundemonium Collection. I've only played on nobilmente and made 2nd boss and yeah, a lot of folks give up on the first boss, but once you figure out that you have to die to kill him, it makes sense and he becomes manageable.

After some time, I felt like Varth wasn't doing the trick in beating me down, so I went back to a true beatdown in Legendary Wings

Turns out it wasn't as tough as I thought in Stage 1, but Stage 2, got sucked into the Danger Room and after I came out it ended pretty quickly. Funny how Exed Exes ended up being a *default* score, being lesser known than those other Capcom games
