Re: Newbie questions?
Hi there new person.
Welcome to Racketboy
Like everything in the world, its got a price, and its only worth what someone's willing to pay for it.
Atari games depending on condition can range anywhere from $1-$10 and more if complete.
This site can give you a general idea on what your games are worth.
http://videogames.pricecharting.com
There are casual fans and hardcore collectors out there, some want everything complete sometimes.
Selling your stuff is okay if you're in need of some money. But if you're a beginner collector, you're off to a good start. Play them, enjoy them.
We have our own hidden rules here, and a lot of us are patient/grumpy, but we have lots of answers.
Don't be shy, but expect sarcasm.

Welcome to the forums, check out the "Introduce Yourself" thread if you haven't posted there yet.
If you're looking for rarity of Atari titles, check out www.atariage.com, which has great rarity information and tons more on all of their consoles. The Sears version of Superman for example, on their scale of 1 to 9, scores a 4, meaning Scarce+, which would mean not quite common, but not all that rare either.

Thanks for the warm greeting!!
Yea, I am not surprised by the crazy things that can go down on forum websites though, but I do try to choose my words wisely to avoid the grumpy ones! lol
To be honest I am not actually a collector, and do just so happen to be in need of cash, and I don't even have a console for atari anymore unfortunately, or I would probably keep them for myself.
I know I might not make much off the games i have but i might be able to help out a collector!! And I probably have about 40 games, 2 racing joysticks, and 2 tennis joysticks.
Would I be better off posting it all in the sell forums?
Re: Newbie questions?
Thank you!! Yes I will have to do that! So basically a game with no case for it that is used even though it might rank a 4 or higher is not worth that much mostlikely?ExedExes wrote:Welcome to the forums, check out the "Introduce Yourself" thread if you haven't posted there yet.

The B/S/T forums are really for established members, and you can read the rules here:Bfasci wrote:Would I be better off posting it all in the sell forums?

Here is the description from the "Rarest and Most Valuable" article on this site:Bfasci wrote:So basically a game with no case for it that is used even though it might rank a 4 or higher is not worth that much most likely?
"Superman (Sears Telegames Picture-Labeled Version): $1,000 – $3,000
Don’t get too excited if you have the standard Superman release with the red text on the labels. Even a typical Sears release of the Superman game with the text-only label is only worth $150 to $200. However, if you have the Sears version that has the yellow text and the picture of Superman on it (see comparison shot with the standard release), you’re in luck. It is the rarest of the Sears Telegames variants and can fetch a few thousand dollars. A boxed copy recently sold on eBay for over $30,000 in November 2012."
Checking the Atariage forums, however, it appears that a loose copy of rare version sold last year for approximately $500. Moreover, I think that the majority of "big money" collectors have shifted to Nintendo consoles and games, and I also think that the 2600 market is really soft right now. Accordingly - and assuming you have the rare version - you could probably sell the game for a few hundred dollars. I think that you would be better off trying to sell it through eBay, however, because, there are no "big money" Atari collectors here (to my knowledge, at least).
That said, I am always looing to add Atari games to my collection; so, if you have any of the titles on my want list, please send me a PM!
Re: Newbie questions?
Like prfsnl_gmr said, Atari 2600 cartridges are just as prized loose as they are complete, especially prototypes or anything rated 7-9 on AtariAge's rarity scale. Of course, manuals and boxes in good shape will add value to any game.Bfasci wrote:Thank you!! Yes I will have to do that! Re: Newbie questions?
Right on!
Well, with a some help from him and some research I'm gonna attempt a ebay sell for the games. Maybe someone will find them useful!!
I got hooked up with a average price range of all the games I have, and after some more research I most likely have the regular sears vs. of Superman, the text on the cartridge is green, but by the sounds of it game collecting sounds like a great hobby!
I am proud to say I still have my super Nintendo console extra controllers and a bunch of games! I believe I might just hold on to for safe keeping of for some classic fun! Still rocken my Nintendo 64 all the time, my friends and I can still get down on some smash bros! lol
