Re: Playstation Vita thread

Post by weasels »

So this has probably been asked a million times, but here goes anyways. My birthday is coming up soon, and I have always wanted a vita. I loved the psp for it's fun (If not extreamly niche) selection, and honestly it seems the vita is right up my ally with this (there's already more than 5 games I want to get). the system itself isn't too badly priced, 250 is ok for me. and it would be even cheaper if i get it used, but personally i dislike getting hardware used. my major problem in justifying the buy, is the memory card price. they are INSANELY priced, and knowing me i will probably have to get a 32gig to be able to sustain myself and the many purchases i will make.that all being said, I have a few questions

1. do physical copies of games have to be installed on the system? and if so about how much space do they take
2. will a 16 gig be ok if i can't get the 32?
3. if i fully enjoyed the psp, what would be my feelings with the vita.
4. should i take the risk of a used system?

1. No

2. If you plan on buying the majority of your titles physically I'd say yes.

3. I've only had mine for a day, but it definitely has the PSP Vibe down.

4. Considering I paid just over half for a perfect condition system with the box, a 8gb card, and a game, I'd say yes.

I feel like I would prefer to buy my games digitally for the Vita, since it seems geared for it. However, there is no way I will pony up more than $30 for a 32gb memory stick. They want $99? They're crazy. I got my 32gb micro-sized USB stick for my car's audio system for $15.

that's exactly my issue. I feel robed when im certain that it doesn't even cost that much for them to produce. and there reasoning for making a new card? to prevent hacking of the vita.....and of course that didn't hinder the hacking scene one bit.

Think I just got a decent deal. Used Vita with pch1001 running on 2.12 firmware, screen protector, box, carrying case, game case, NFS Most Wanted, Unit 13, dock, and power cord, for $130 (minus shipping)

Now I just need a copy of Gravity Rush :D

and a memory card too I guess

Nice!

Gravity Rush is free for PS+ members, so there's that route.

Hmmm, I wonder if I can get another PS+ free trial

I want to try Gravity Rush, Little King's Story, and maybe Dynasty Warriors Next. I wonder if gamefly has Vita games to rent.

I'm looking forward to finally getting some mileage out of cross buy. I've had Guacamelee and Sly 4 on the PS3 for a while now. I can finally try those free Vita versions I got with them. Now that I think about, I think I have a free Vita version of Retro City Rampage too! I never finished that game, might be easier to do on Vita. Awesome!

So now I have both the 3DS and the Vita. I am content.

I'm actually a bit more stoked about the Vita's current library after watching this:

I'm rather fascinated by the portable gaming scene right now, despite all the talk of PS4s and Xbox Ones

So looking past how disturbingly pervy it is, anyone know if Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus is good? Good enough to merit the rather high import price it seems to command? I'm looking for some great beat 'em up/hack n slash action on my Vita and I already know what to expect from Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus and Dynasty Warriors Next, but this game is a question mark to me
