How do you store game guides, game books, etc.?

I would like to store my stuff like guides, artbooks, hardcover books and what not in a way that wouldn't damage them over time, but is the best way just sturdy plastic bins?

How do you guys store yours?

Hardcovers, and larger guides look great on a shelf. For everything else, maybe call up your local comic book shop and see if they sell magazine boxes. Magazine bags, and boards are also an option if you're feeling especially protective.

I'm having trouble with this. I live in an apartment. We have an extra room, but it's small. And that's where I keep all my comic and gaming stuff. I'm completely out of shelf space between the 2 collections. All of my regular novels are boxed up, and my gaming books are starting to overflow into that box, and now even my Master System game boxes are starting to go the same route.

I think it's time for me to start thinking about moving on to a house. It just feels cramped around this place, not counting that room even. It's like 2 steps between the 2 couches and coffee table in the living room.

This has been a problem for me too. I have a whole dedicated shelf just for game guides. I wish game guides would use bigger screenshots in the pages for better detail. I hate DRM download based games, but have been pulling thru game FAQs at times when in the middle of a game. I copy, paste and save them into notepad so at least they can always be accessed.

Sometimes I go real nuts and put together an offline HTML file after getting all the multiple pages from an online guide such as IGN. The advantage after the hard work is no ads, just the entire guide right in my hard drive. If the game is really special, I end up doing the same with reviews and other sites that has good info for a game. Burn all the HTMLs on a CDR and store with the original game. This sometimes is worth the effort, especially for vintage games when the online guides go away.

I just have 2 magazines but i allways though on buying some if i find them in the way. So far i just keep them in individual plastic bags from a game store that has the EXACT size of the magazine.

In the future i was thinkiing on buying some of these to keep them safe

Also @CRTGAMER, that doesn't sound like going too far, but that's quite the bit of effort. Now I like archiving stuff myself but I don't know if I'd be able to do that for more than just a few guides. Still, it's in my head for later.

Have you thought about stackable long boxes? If you're not displaying the guides, I would search "stackable long boxes" or "stackable shipping boxes".

I've also used empty liquor boxes, and empty 12-pack Rolling Rock boxes to store guides, comics and such.

I keep the newer magazines and a few strategy guides in a basket in my bathroom so I can read them during extended business meetings. I'm sure it's keeping them in great condition.

Strategy guides are a bit wider than normal comic long-boxes. They aren't gonna fit in there. I've seen magazine boxes that are similar that would work, though. I don't know about other places, but my local comic shop only sells the magazine boxes in short-boxes, not long-boxes. Many strategy guides are even bigger than magazines, though.
