Re: Metal Heads Assemble!!
Haha I really dig the first FATA EP and full-length, actually. They went to shit after that. Imagery and gimmicks aside, I think they were a pretty solid band (for the first few years).
I saw them live a decade ago with Hopesfall and some other band I can't remember. I do recall the FATA drummer being a bit standoffish.

never got to see hopesfall but i always enjoyed them. i lived in indiana in the early 2000's so it's a bit of a prerequisite that i had a short-term love affair with christian metalcore.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Haha I really dig the first FATA EP and full-length, actually. my favorite has to be strongarm, though. best christian metalcore band ever.

Re: Metal Heads Assemble!!
We used to have a guy in my town who did promotions for shitloads of -core bands. I went to a few shows because I had nothing better to do, and while I admired the guy's enthusiasm for the scene... yeah. Didn't enjoy myself much at all.
That's pretty much perfect.
Yeah. There's a lot of stylistic overlap between that stuff and deathcore, so it's no surprise that I don't really like either of them.
'Course, there are exceptions to everything I guess.

Personally, I prefer this flow chart from Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, though it is now nearly a decade out of date, so it doesn't cover things like the thrash revival.

Oh boy that chart is infamous. Ozzy as "shock rock", nearly everything listed under "Power Metal" being totally wrong, "Stoner Metal" being some werid stand-in for Doom (wtf does Candlemass have to do with stoners?), just oh man.
I mean genre bickering is dumb and pointless most of the time, I get that, but this chart is just so off the mark in so many ways. BurningDoom's chart is a lot more accurate I think.

Ack may have posted that sarcastically, but the fact that someone took the time to make such an erroneous chart makes me weep.

Re: Metal Heads Assemble!!
So, I fixed that link a page or two back, so you guys could actually see it...
Also, on the topic of metal elitism, do you guys think that power metal gets frowned upon pretty often? Not as much as metalcore and deathcore and such, but power metal seems to get the short end of the stick from most of the trve/brutal guys, y'know?

All I know about power metal is that I don't like it at all.
