Methinks thou doth protest too much. I didn't say it was an inherently bad idea, but I don't think it's as mind blowing as they're trying to make it seem. Since we're just talking about a prototype at this point, not nearly ready for market, it seems like they're overselling it and that, to me, seems like they're attempting to overcompensate for the beating the 360 took from Nintendo's "lame kiddie system" (which is what a lot of 360 fans called it BTW).dsheinem wrote:take this fanboy horse shit elsewhere. not all new tech is a "gimmick" that people will buy based on branding. if you don't see the appeal, fine...but it isn't an inherently bad idea or somehow "trying too hard". Let's at least wait to see how this is actually utilized by game devs before passing judgemnet, shall we? We can criticize the Kinect, Move, or Wii U screen based on its actual usage at this point. By contrast, we don't know how/if this device might pan out, nor do we know if it will be a high-margin "revenue enhancing device". So just stop.
The implication is that they want Xbox fanboys to crow about how superior the technology is, but if the games aren't any better than they would be without the projector, who cares? If the final product is substantially better than what we see here, than that's fine, but if all we get is what's shown in the video, then I just can't see spending the kind of money it's going to cost on what amounts to a fancy light show. Now if they invented a true virtual reality game system, that would be something to get excited about, but this isn't it. I'm entitled to my opinion, just like you're entitled to say I'm wrong.
