Dressing babies in ridiculous outfits is really fun! They are so cute, and they are completely unaware of the fact that they look absolutely ridiculous.

Now, we let our four-year-old, incredibly feminine, princess-obsessed daughter pick her own clothes (with some supervision), and she has no problem generating absolutely outrageous - but nonetheless incredibly cute - outfits. (It helps that - likely due to the fact that my mother, her grandmother, had two boys - she has immense wardrobe of dresses.)

Also, my wife and I tried our best to discourage the whole "princess" thing, but we have just given up on it at this point. At least, she is is a "fighting" or "ninja" princess who does not expect to be rescued by a prince, and her dress-up outfits ususally consist of a princess dress, plastic jewelry, plastic shoes, a plasitc helmet, and a plastic sword (or wand if she is casting spells).

Hey, at least you didn't encourage it like most parents I know. What makes me cringe is when parents let their kids play dress up at the dinner table. These are the same parents who complain that "our little princess won't eat her vegetables" and wonder why.
