Donkey Kong Country 1, 2 and 3 would definitely do it for me. Castlevania IV would be nice, too. I like the Turtles in Time suggestion.

What an interesting way to disguise a "Name your top 5 SNES games" thread.

It could be...but I think that the exercise is more interesting if we are resticted to the OP's backlog.Ziggy587 wrote:What an interesting way to disguise a "Name your top 5 SNES games" thread.![]()

I also expect him or her to post: (1) the games chosen for the weekend; (2) whether he or she completed all of them; and (3) impressions on each of the games.

Re: Suggestions for a SNES gaming weekend
I will most certainly be updating the list of games chosen
This really isn't a list of my top five SNES games (Chrono Trigger and Mario RPG would definitely be in that list but would probably take up too much of my time) but rather a way for me to play through some of my favorite shorter games on the SNES.
Thanks to the poster who suggested the Donkey Kong trilogy - one of those, likely the first one, simply has to be included. My list to this point is likely to be:
Friday night - Super Metroid
Saturday - Zelda: LttP
Sunday - Super Mario World
Sunday Night - F-Zero
Monday - Donkey Kong
(I have four days of vacation, though I might add F-Zero to Friday AFTER Metroid, as both are relatively short)

SNES weekend sounds fun, would be more fun to put some TV's together and play side by side with a friend on the same games!
Re: Suggestions for a SNES gaming weekend
No way, you'd need the entire weekend for Yoshi's Island alone! That game is massive last I remember.ninjainspandex wrote:add Yoshis Island and Turtles In Time
I was thinking Super Castlevania IV myself, throw in some Earthworm Jim too.

Re: Suggestions for a SNES gaming weekend
Well, the weekend got off to a slower start than I anticipated (couldn't get Friday off approved in time, unfortunately) but I haven't lost hope! I just finished beating Super Metroid tonight and I was not disappointed.
Although I didn't die a single time, I credit a lot of that to memories of when I was a teenager and the game seemed legitimately tough for me...I spent countless hours grinding through that maze searching for powerups back in the day. The music is still top-notch and the atmosphere of the game is incredible...there were a few parts that literally gave me goosebumps.
Anyway, the coffee pot is on, so next stop - Donkey Kong Country!
