Go with the Dreamcast if you want to see what the console that killed a company looks like.
Atari 2600 or Dreamcast?

What happened to the Dreamcast wasn't the Dreamcast's fault, it was a symptom of a problem caused by already present problem, largely due to the 32X and the blunder of a launch the Saturn was.dsheinem wrote:Go with the 2600 so you can see what the console that launched an industry looks like.

The Dreamcast all the way. The 2600 version of Samba de Amigo is kind of lame.

Atari games are about a buck or two apiece.
GET BOTH.
This. Kind of. What I might try to do is get the Dreamcast this summer, and if I get to a flea market (or two) and I see a cheap 2600 I might get it as a "collectors item"
Re: Atari 2600 or Dreamcast?
If you're going for the Dreamcast, I highly recommend you bookmark http://www.theisozone.com. There's a ton of homebrew games and retro ports out there, including a good chunk of the Neo Geo library (which I wouldn't be able to play otherwise due to how expensive that system is, and I'm sure I'm not the only one).
I'm not a glitch, I just have pixlexia.
