yeah, everyone always wants to know. it's part of the allure of the "finds" thread. it's like hearing about someone who won the lottery ("it could have been me") or something.

but, yeah, if you're gonna sell, no harm in hiding your price paid, i don't think. posting finds essentially becomes less about bragging and more about advertising at that point, which i don't think is any better or worse.

i agree on ebay listings. lots more fixed price listings, so it's harder to gauge what a fair price is. it's strange that you'll see one game sell in a BIN listing for like $50, but when put up for actual auction, it might go for $13, it might go for $75.

I don't see any harm in posting the price and then turning around and selling it higher. Taken into account the time taken and gas it is reasonable that the price would be higher as long as its not crazy high. This helps a potential buyer to decide the convenient higher price versus the lower if one wants to do the diving at the Thrift Store.

Posting the price along with the story is what makes this thread interesting to follow. Oh and for those that hide their finds pictures under a Spoiler, why not show it up front? Some including me may not take the time to click that SHOW button.

Nice Finds! That PS1 Barracuda is great for non Dual Shock games. Both of the sticks can emulate the DPad for the older PS1 games. The Analog Stick/DPad combo is great for third person Tank Control games. Try it on PS1 Relentless Little Big Adventure.

I had to do a double take on the Rayman Rabbids figurines, thought they were Funkeys.

Always on the lookout for different games, Overboard caught my eye. I hit Google Game Faqs, turned out the US title is called Ship Wreckers.

This is silly. No one here can determine what is or isn't proper etiquette because it takes 2 people to complete a transaction. If you don't like a members practice or their price...don't buy and make a point to not deal with them.

A find is only a find if the price is known, otherwise you just bought something that any of us could've bought.

"I just got Earthbound for $175!" --->Ok, good for you.
"I just got Earthbound for $50!" --->Nice find!
"I just got Earthbound!" ----> You and a million others :/

What's pricing etiquette? At ebay, below ebay, 50% more than I paid? There is no etiquette - it's supply and demand. No need to complicate it more than that. If the price is too high - you don't have to buy. I like hooking up the community - we all do, but that price is pretty spot on - there isn't much wiggle room.

If an item sells for $100 on ebay, then the forum price is in the $85-90 range (or should be). You save the fees and the hassles. Win for you and the buyer. You can sell for $100, but then there is no community benefit, though you as seller maximize profit. Or you can sell for $70 and have someone flip it on you - that isn't community benefit unless it is going to someone you know for certain is going to keep it FOREVER.

Finds without prices are silly - save them for your gameroom.

I don't understand how someone's paid price would affect whether you buy an item or not, unless you are just jealous. Its either worth the asking price, or not worth the asking price, and what the buyer paid should mean nothing.
