Post by aaron »

http://www.greenheartgames.com.nyud.net ... of-piracy/

i am 1000000% positive this thread will result in another ridiculous debate about privacy and morality and downloading and satan, but this is an interesting article that i felt some of you guys would appreciate.

Actually a really good read.

I thought it was going to be about how <insert game name, I forgot which, pretty sure a Ubisoft game) uploaded a scene crack nocd in an official update.

The hilarity of some of the comments from people who's virtual game was being pirated made me smile. "Can I research DRM or something?"

The only thing "ironic" about this is that the developer ripped off Game Dev Story.

I can't read it because the website is unavailable.

Try this: http://bit.ly/Y9sVBE

The website is spotty, so retrying it later will work. It's just under a lot of stress from the front page of reddit, kotaku, ign, and a penny-arcade thread.

What leads me to pirate is the fact that so many of the shows I grew up watching have never been made available on DVD, so if I want to see them again, I have no choice. I try to play fair, though, in that if a previously unavailable series I downloaded later becomes available, I tend to purchase it as soon as I can spare the cash (Daria, Rocko's Modern Life, King Arthur And The Knights Of Justice, etc). There's quite a few I'm still waiting on, though (Doug, As Told By Ginger, The Practice, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, The Drew Carey Show...).
