Eh, I'd rather not go to Best Buy either, they are pretty annoying as well. That's when I look them right in the eye and say something like: "By hanging yourself from the closest rafter", "By fornicating yourself with that vacuum cleaner for my amusement" or "By not going away mad, just going away" all dry without any facial expression.01toubib wrote:Eh, I'd rather not go to Best Buy either, they are pretty annoying as well. It's amazing how quickly they all disappear when I do stuff like that.
Just for kicks, I generally seek out an associate that hasn't bothered me when I've found whatever I'm looking for, and then get them to ring it in for the commission. (This is at Future Shop, which was Canada's Best Buy equivalent until Best Buy bought the company. Future Shop employees still earn commission on product sales, whereas Best Buy employees do not.)
I'm actually not as big of a dick as that all makes me sound, I'm quite nice and friendly to everyone until they keep up the hassle schtick. I get it, you're hungry for commission -- when I need you, I'll find you.

I get the opposite. There is never anybody around.

Yeah, at the Best Buy near me, they don't really bother me unless if I really want something. They may ask me once if I need anything and if I say no, they leave me alone.

Same here I don't spend much time in the store though their prices tend to be the highest in the area.hashiriya1 wrote:01toubib wrote:

Bah... Being an ex-BestBuy employee, I hate it when people talk about the company as a whole. Every store is different. We are pressured by our supervisors to stay up our customers asses, and they were constantly changing the policies. It's kind of confusing when
I normally just asked if they needed help, because it's the polite thing to do, and told the other employees if they were contacted or if they seemed like they may have questions later.
Same goes for GeekSquad. Our agents were actually inelegant(fort he most part) and knowledgeable about our products. They weren't total pricks about trying to get things fixed either, but we are a business and it's still about making money.
However, one town over, I never once was asked if I needed help. The employees stood around talking while I tried my best to looked confused as hell. When I finally was asked for assistance, they were annoying and didn't know about any of the products I was asking about. The GeekSquad there also frequently gets poor reviews. We had customer drive an hour out of the way to go to our store specifically for our customer service skills.
Meh... I didn't take pride in the Blue Shirt as much as I could have, but I did take pride in my store. /rant

I don't mind the general attention I get at Best Buy. It can be a tad annoying when five different people ask if I need help, which continually distracts me from whatever it is I'm looking at, but I can understand why they do it at least.
What drives me nuts is when they get the Direct TV sales people in the store, and they start pestering you.
Its always the same pitch too. "Have you heard about our special offer today?" Oh you bet I have. Please leave me alone, I only came in for two minutes to grab and go.
I feel like they may have had some complaints about that though. They still come talk to you, but if you tell them you're not interested they'll back off. Used to be they'd sit there and argue with you.
And that just reminds me of the far, far worse Comcast sales people that used to squat at Wal-Mart. Good lord they were horrible.

We hate them too, but it makes Best Buy money. They're constantly interrupting our sales, even if it has nothing to do with Home Theater! After we complained enough, they stopped roaming in other departments and being so forceful in their approach.
We used to get a load of complaints about the "I've been asked if I needed help by FIVE people already!!!". We tried to tone it down some by announcing if we greeted somebody over the walkies. Customer would still get angry sometimes. Just doing my job... :/

For the most part the guys who work at the GameStops around me are pretty cool. The main issue with GameStop to me is they're gutted new games policy.
