Today seems a bit slow around here, so this was something I wanted to post for a while.
Local TV commercials seem to be something of an art form, especially in the past few years with the proliferation of YouTube. Something I enjoy doing is to seek out and find good ones and add them to my favorites. I hope this will be a place where people can share their past/present local ads from their neck of the woods and post stories & video links to them.
Here's one I saw a lot of at one time around here --
Car Credit Tampa (WARNING: LOUD so turn down volume!)
If you want to get an idea of how silly they can be, this top 10 countdown is a good place to start.

Re: Local Commercials
Wish I could find it on YouTube... but there's a PSA commercial aired in Maine about the dangers of childhood obesity. It stars this stereotypical fat kid who spends his day lounging around the house. At one point he's shown playing SNES! You can tell by the film quality and other appliances/computers around the house that it's not an old commercial they're still airing. One of the producers must have had a SNES kicking around or something, makes me chuckle every time I see it.
EDIT: Here's some awful shiz I was able to find on YouTube.
Chapter 11 Furniture
Marden's

Gonna throw a few more out from areas east of me in Orlando --
Family Auto Mart (best part is at 6:48 -- already advanced to that point!)
Appliance Direct (there's more where THIS came from!)
Don't forget the national sensation that was Flea Market Montgomery!

I guess thats kind of a Midwest thing.
Nothing really like that on the west coast.
There are a few cheezy commercials from when I lived back in Modesto.

Re: Local Commercials
I'm not going to bother searching youtube (they aren't worth your time), but local attorneys have the cheesiest ads.
Check cashing/payday loan joints are pretty bad as well.

Awesome thread!
I'm at work, so I can't watch the videos... I hope these are the right links.
I live in Houston now, but I grew up in South-East Louisiana.
These commercials will forever and always be etched into my brain:
The original - See the Special Man:
90's remake - Free Fried Chicken:
I say, I say, I say!

He died a few years ago, but Vern Fonk used to be our guy in the NorthWest for the craziest local ads:
