I would say it just needs to be thoroughly cleaned. Anything else wrong with it, you can't tell from the auction.

As for the power adapter, it sounds like the wire is chewed up to the point where you wouldn't even wanna repair it. I would just run a new wire from the brick internally. You need a security bit to open those power adapters, the bit is different than the bit used to open the SNES console.

The four bits in the lower right hand side of the red case are the shape you need for the power adapter. You can make one from a flat head screw driver with a dremel tool.

Even if fixable, I would rather spend a few more $ for a clean one than one that looks like it was stored in a toilet.

Maybe he wants it to fix a broken SNES. Either way, $16 shipped isn't a bad price. Not counting the one I got for free, I haven't ever purchased a SNES that cheap before. Shipping is probably at least 5 or 6 bucks. That makes the console only $10, if not less.

No really, this thing looks like its spent years in a sewer. I wouldn't even let it in my house.

I know it's a disgusting color, but it just looks like it spent years in direct sunlight. Not the sewers, and not the toilet. Nothing that isn't fixable, if you ask me. You especially wouldn't mind if you just wanted it for parts.

Sorry to go off topic about Bob the Builder, but...
I was on another forum years ago. Some one was posting with the user name Bob the Bender. A third person came along and posted...

Bob the Bender!
Can we fix it?
Bob the Bender!
Please inset girder.

It was funny then, and it's still funny remembering it now.

Well the buy it now is about 20. Maybe if you had a nice shell for a non working system they could be swapped.

I realize it literally wasnt sitting in a toilet, but I was making an exaggerated joke on one of the most yellow SNES consoles I have seen. With a little patience, you can find them locally for 20-30. I have sold several nice ones on here for $30.

If it's any consolation, if that ad ran on my local listings site it'd be advertised as 'SUPER-RARE Gold SNES'.
