As I understand it, there are a lot of things they needed to get clearences for (unlike in the 90s when the Copyright Nazis didn't care as much) and that was the primary reason for the delay. Disney insists the same issue is what's holding up the dvd release of The Muppet Show's last two seasons because they really don't want to cut any more segments out like they had to do for the first season dvd. It sucks big time, but that's the way it is. If only the media companies weren't so greedy, it wouldn't be a problem (not that I'm saying they shouldn't be compensated, but come on).

The exposure to a mass audience like this bodes very well for the franchise. This will sell well (I will purchase it). I'd imagine the physical copies will drop off 25-30% eventually.

Prices are probably going to spike up until the release date... then nobody is going to buy the SNES release when they can pay a little extra to get a new console and a digital version of the game. I expect to see the price go down to a little under 100.

That's what I was referring to when I mentioned the seemingly random effects. 'Course, how often do we see a game this valuable get a digital re-release? It'll be interesting to watch, for sure. It's really hard to predict, since while there could definitely be some new interest in the cart, I think a lot of people might be trying to sell what they have off before prices start dropping, to get the most they can. I guarantee anybody who's been on the fence about selling their EB cart is seriously going to be considering dumping it soon.

Long term though, I doubt you'll see the cart alone still going for $200+ once the VC release actually happens.

Whatever happens, I doubt you'll see a rapid drop of any kind. No matter how you slice it, this game is a cult classic. You won't ever find it for pennies.
