Yeah, I'll be shocked to see him walk anytime soon, let alone ever walk without a limp or think about playing college basketball. A damn shame.
Hmm, well I'd say it depends on the muscle damage. The compound fracture tore his leg open, sure, but if the muscles are ok, he may walk as soon as the bone heals. Not well enough to play, but walk.

But you have to consider any underlying causes for the leg snapping like that.
