Re: Who else prices games this way?
Disc replay in my area does this. I have gotten games like Chrono for the cart only price of like 50$ a year ago CIB. It try not to make them aware or the will raise prices of the games. Sometimes they price it right in line w eBay and other times not. Last Friday I found a Master System Boxed with inserts in great shape for $40. They were charging the console only price and got box and instructions for nothing.

or instead of being selfish like this fool you could be progressive & tell him why he'd see a lot more business if he charged less for the loose games lol i'm assuming you still wanna see used game stores like that around in the futureTheSonicRetard wrote: You have a lucky setup there, don't clue that guy in. Just consider it a perk. If they're actually giving away game boxes, I would stock up on certain sorts of cases so you could gut them later for pricier games.

Progress is informing the guy that he can charge you more? It's selfish to want your buck to go further?
And I'm the fool?
And I'm the fool?
It's not my prerogative to prop up failing business models. I'm a consumer, I have no obligation towards sustaining any business but my own.i'm assuming you still wanna see used game stores like that around in the future

Business owners also don't tend to like it much when random customers come in telling them how to run their business.
Lastly, if you're in the business of used games, it's on you to make sure you understand the market.

Interesting workaround. I use N64 sports cart backs to get imports to work and swapped disc cases around at times to give the good game a shiny case home. A few of the sports games I own have a franchise hologram sticker, maybe adding to the value even if only a sports game?Jrecee wrote:Why spend $2 per case when I can buy crappy sports games for 50 cents or a dollar and use the case? I print out covers from the cover project and they fit perfectly into the originals. With the textured plastic you can barely tell the difference. Not that I don't prefer an original, but for the few loose games I can't pass up or the really expensive complete games, it works.
I think I would prefer an original cover over a printout if only a couple dollars more. Offset the cost of the ink for the printout. If a trade off of a game manual or not, at times I would pay ten bucks more for CIB. On the other hand, I have missed out on games sold for only a lousy buck due to not finding them complete.

Those cases could be delicious but the picture makes them look very... dirty.
Also, to be honest 7.99 is a bit high for Sonic 2 considering how common it is, box or not.
But I guess that's the price you pay for retail.

And it's that exact attitude that allows resellers to overcharge and jack their prices up whenever they want for no discernable reason, because they know people will roll over and pay it no matter what. The first step to stopping the insanity is to stand up as a group and say "Enough! No more!" But that'll never happen because people are too complacent to do that.Retronomy wrote:to be honest 7.99 is a bit high for Sonic 2 considering how common it is, box or not. I'm not a glitch, I just have pixlexia.

If you're lucky.TheSonicRetard wrote: For my research, it seems most people just go on ebay these days and browse completed auctions to determine how to price their stuff. The retro game shops in Houston do this, and even flea markets and pawn shops have started to do it, too.
I've been to stores that use gouged BIN prices to price their games. It's ridiculous.

You mean you DON'T want to pay $999 for a sealed copy of X-men on the genesisBoneSnapDeez wrote:If you're lucky.TheSonicRetard wrote: For my research, it seems most people just go on ebay these days and browse completed auctions to determine how to price their stuff. EDIT: I can say with confidence that Player 1 video games in Friendswood, Texas and Game Over Games off of 59 use completed auction prices, not BIN prices.
