Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
I don't agree with his opinion on emulators being better, personally. But at the same time, I don't see why it's such a hard thing for you guys to understand. Not everyone likes to have multiple consoles hooked-up to a T.V. or hoarding large numbers of games like us collectors do. Emulators are for those people that still want to play the older games but aren't down with the collecting side of it.

I'm not against people buying some old system and a couple games because it's cool to see what these old systems were like. I get that. I just think it's weird for somebody to go out and try to amass a complete TG16 collection (just as an example) when they never played it "back in the day" or weren't even alive. If you just want to experience the system, that's one thing, but if you want to "collect" key games for it, that's where I think nostalgia factors in as being important.
So someone that appreciated art should only be able to buy posters of paintings or cheap knockoffs of vases? Car enthusiasts should only drive replicas of vehicles their family owned or were made after they got their license? So when all of us that grew up with cart consoles die nobody should own them anymore?
It's your opinion and you are entitled to it. I just think the logic is a little silly and becomes more so when applied to other things.
I only played NES/GB/SNES "back in the day" - for me collecting is fun because of all these consoles are a brand new experience for me. I had never even seen a Dreamcast, Saturn, or TG16 until 2010 or so.
Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
-The Dreamcast is overrated and has a crap controller.
/agree, i always saw the GameCube as being far superior, Sega did do ports from the Dreamcast, while the Dreamcast still has alot of exclusives.
-Retro consoles older than the NES aren't worth your time.
/agree, i cant stand the Atari 2600, its just so... man a game needs at least NES level graphics to keep my attention.
-The 3DO was an awesome system.
/disagree, what does this system offer that i cant play on another console or PC?
-The Nintendo 64 is a crap system.
/disagree, you know, we had a thread for all this N64 hate.

Depends on the game. Console compilations of arcade games can be somewhat boring because having infinite continues removes all the challenge. On the other hand, Pokemon Red is pretty easy and it's loads of fun, even today.

If there is not much learning curve or strategy to the game or sense of relief/accomplishment after beating a boss, passing a stage or whatever, I lose intersest and do not see the point. Like with super mario galaxy, pretty forgetable game for me because I blew through the whoe thing without breaking a sweat and by about the halfway point I didn't find the game very stimuating at all.

Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
Here's one I thought of.
I hate when games try to be hard just to be hard. Not in the case of say, Battletoads, Ghosts n' Goblins, or other games that were hard when they came out just because of design. Another example would be the Souls series. I'm fine with Demon's Souls being hard as hell. Dark Souls changes some things, making it, in my opinion, harder in dumb ways.
In reply to some others:
I like Adam Sessler a lot. I have similar taste in games. Reviews wise, he's one of my favorite reviewers.
N64 is a great system, just a case of digging through the shit to get the diamonds.
Still think controller is better than KB&M.
Half Life 2 gets way to much praise. The game is boring.
I wish controllers were bigger. 360 and the original "Duke" controllers are really comfortable, compared to all of these controllers for people with small hands.
