Damnit i was so excited for this retro project I spend last 10 days looking at videos and forums!

Re: New to retro, need some advice
Wow, you're here a day and you're already questioning whether it's worth it. You, my friend, are living the life of a retro gamer at an incredibly fast pace. My suggestion: slow down, start small. Pick one console, and perhaps one genre that interests you, and start researching games in that genre on that console. Pick three names, track them down, and try them out. See how you feel.
Re: New to retro, need some advice
Ah I was freaking out there was something wrong with me
Seems like there's a Retro game syndrome
What triggered my search and I found this site is that I felt that I'm not enjoying games anymore and ofcourse I looked at the past (started on a Sega Mega Drive myself ... or Genesis like you call it?)
hmm

Re: New to retro, need some advice
So do you still have a Mega Drive? If not, track one down or order online, along with maybe a couple of games you played as a kid. Don't worry about hooking it up to your HDTV, just hook it up and play it.
Re: New to retro, need some advice
Actually I do own it and its in perfect condition I used it for 1 year back when I was a kid and boxed it until now... I have like 20 games for it probably... I have a problem hooking it up to my TV tho because it requires me to use the RF antenna but my TV is mounted on a special TV stand....
Don't know if I can use some other connection but as a first step I got an emulator + the roms for the games I own

Re: New to retro, need some advice
Well, that's a start. My next suggestion would be to track down a means of hooking it up to your television, even if you have to wire up some weird stand for it or do something strange. Give it a go. Most of us got into retrogaming to capture something from our childhoods, so I would highly suggest you stick with that for a bit. Also, try thinking back to when you were young and playing it. Were there any games you remember borrowing or seeing ads for and wanting to try? Might not be a bad idea to start researching them.
Re: New to retro, need some advice
I have a small PC monitor I am wondering if I can work something out to hook up my consoles to that... it does have HDMI input... Hmmm.
I think going for original hardware + games rather than emulation would give a better feeling it seems... I mean it feels kinda pointless buying carts then using roms ... soulless if i may say that

Re: New to retro, need some advice
If the TV lacks SCART input, it's probably time to consider upgrading.
You really don't want to be stuck in the realm of poor quality composite video people here are used to.
