You can now get the game for free from the developer's website and have it run in a source port like DarkPlaces.-X-Men: Ravages of Apocalypse (PC) - An old PC game that uses the Quake engine that I remember seeing ads for in comics books that I've always wanted to try out.

Re: What Are Some Old Games You Never Got To Play?
I have missed most of an entire genre - RPG games.
Rare is the RPG game that can hold my interest/attention for the duration. I have never finished a Final Fantasy game and, to be perfectly honest, have no real desire to do so.
I did put over 100 hours into Oblivion - but my favorite parts of that game were the parts where I was ignoring the plot and making my own fun.
It's funny too because I have put hundreds of hours into many city builders, TBS games, etc. And I would be embarrassed to admit how many hours I've put into Minecraft survival mode. I guess I just like sandboxes.
To each their own

Pretty much any classic from before N64/PS1 etc. era. I've gotten some of the biggest (Mario!), but mostly I've missed stuff.
Castlevania, in general.
Earthbound. Thought of emulating it, but haven't gotten into any chances as of yet. I love older games, but gaming them on my computer... not so much.
Various 16 bit RPG's/Hack & Slash's/Action/Adventure games. Love those.
All kinds of fantasy games. Favorite setting of all, tied with sci-fi.
Various PC classics. I need a better PC!
Majority of Mega Man.
Sooooo many gameboy releases. I mean, there's a metric fuck ton of them, and I don't even know where to start.
Sega stuff in general.

The Ultima series. I played a minuscule amount of Exodus on my NES, but I've always wanted to go through them in chronological order. I have a soft spot for old, archaic RPGs.
Other series: Suikoden, Ogre Battle, Shin Megami Tensei, lots of other RPGs.

Chrono Trigger is easily worth whatever time you have. A single playthrough shouldn't take more than 25 hours (which isnt much for RPG standards). It is a very well paced and focused adventure that doesn't waste your time or overstay it's welcome as I feel some JRPG's do. *cough* Tales of the Abyss *cough*ejamer wrote:More than any other, ChronoTrigger is probably the old game I missed out on and most want to play to this day. Heck... I even own it via Virtual Console and have played probably the first half hour, but just haven't had time to go back for more. Family life with kids has really hit my personal TV time hard.

Anything and everything in my "want to buy" category. Or my Backloggery if I ever get to complete that thing.
Stuff like this makes me wish I was more stable -- I'd love to open up my collection (or invite people to a campus game room -- so many exist!) to try new-old stuff out.BurningDoom wrote:-Magic Knight Rayearth (Saturn) - A fantastic looking shoot-em up that just looks stunning. I want to play it so bad, but the price is so high.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
