It's possible the first guy was just trying to kill the dragon and found that was a place where he could easily hit the dragon without worrying about return fire.

Finally killed the wolf in the woods, went back to blightown and killed Shelob. After ringing the second bell I got a little ways through Sen's Fortress and fell off a ledge.
Before I go back to pick up my bloodstain I'll be sure to bring some arrows with me this time.

Shelob? Who is that? I'm scared I'll have to drudge through Blighttown again...

Shelob is the spider from Lord of the Rings. He's referring to Quelaag.
Ok, that makes so much more sense, phew. Never gotten into Lord of the Rings, didn't catch that.
I have to say, I'm liking the games soo much better now that I have a good weapon. Now I just have to learn how armour, shields, and leveling work.
For armor it's mostly self-explanatory: bigger numbers in the resistances block more damage. And having a larger number in the body? category means you won't be staggered as much when you get hit, so you can react faster.
For shields the most important thing is to have a damage block of 100. That means that when your shield is up you will block all the damage. The other numbers are the percentages of other damage types that it will block.

I'm having problems with the butt slam attack in the Ornstein and Smough fight. Just can't get away!
And bad summons. I've never had so many summons run off without me.
(One thing discussed in reference to DS II that I agree with is earlier telportation/a more Nexus like area. Trudging through various areas to get to upgrading equipment is really a waste of time.)
