I gave up on rottontomatoes when I realized that, more often than not, they would give terrible reviews to all the good movies and glowing reviews to all the bad movies. This frustrates me because so often I see people bashing a movie they might not have even seen just because it got bad reviews and when I try and defend it, they insult me. And it's not just trolls either, I'm usually pretty good at spotting them, more and more it's regular folks and that's actually much worse. I weep because in the future, my generation is gonna be known as "the stupid generation".

I think pretty much all review aggregates are bad.

Well, I don't view "all critics" just the "top critics" who make their living by reviewing movies, and are educated enough to give a proper review. I don't always agree, but the majority of the time I agree with the overall "top critic" score.

BURT had close to a 40% rating on all critics, and closer to a 20% from top critics. Like I already stated, I don't always agree with them, but they're usually pretty close to the mark for me.

I just watched Brave. I feel pretty much the same way about it that I do Wreck it Ralph. Good, not great. There were things I enjoyed about it, but overall it just never really grabbed me in a big way. Were there any truly great, CGI family movies in 2012? Will I find Rise of the Guardians underwhelming as well? They had Kung Fu Panda 2 on HBO this week so I watched it again, and it's so much better than both Brave and Wreck it Ralph and it's a 2011 movie. The original Kung Fu Panda is better than Brave and Wreck it Ralph too, by a wide margin. I even got more enjoyment out of the 7 minute long Paperman than I did Wreck it Ralph and Brave.

When I think of great stuff like The Incredibles, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, the original Shrek, Ratatouille, and Despicable Me, movies like Brave and Wreck it Ralph seem so mediocre by comparison. Tangled is another one I liked, and Brave never manages to be as good as that either.
Haha! We watched that yesterday too! I was thinking about posting about it, but didn't feel like it. I enjoyed the movie, but it wasn't anything special in my opinion. The music was probably one of my biggest gripes.
Oh god, the vocal tracks made me roll my eyes and turn down the volume on my TV. It's music for Brittany Spears fans. Also, the plot is rather nonsensical and I think the movie could have benefited from an extra thirty minutes just to flesh out its two female leads more. I never felt invested in them. The queen in particular, is just an awful character who doesn't make any sense. A little back story on her might have helped with that as she just comes off as someone who is a bitch for no good reason.

Brave was just Brother Bear in 3D animation. And not as good.

Plus it didn't have Bob & Doug playing meese. Yes, I said meese.

I usually find that rottentomatoes is on the mark. But obviously they're not always right. And just because a movie pulls in a 40%, doesn't mean it's bad. That could mean that 90% of reviewers gave it a C.

They're usually spot on with the good movies though. Rarely have I seen a movie pull higher than an 80% and be bad. If anything it's just something I'm not into.

This movie is going nowhere, and it's going nowhere fast.

Avoid.

Are you saying it didn't go off the deep end?

It did go off the deep end. But not in a satisfying way.

When the movie ends the only thing you will be able to think is: "That's it!?"

It's like waiting for something that never comes...

Watch Jacob's Ladder instead if you want 'going off the deep end'...

Godzilla Vs. Monster Zero. I didn't even care about the fact that there was no monster fighting until the last 20 minutes, I was too busy laughing a the awful dub.
