Finished the case front, and made the pull-out drawer knobs too, and a snug hole for a 15 pin D-Sub connector (for the Master Controller to connect to); case front is all painted, and now varnished. Letting the varnish dry fully, will take a few hours. Using the metallic sealer Plasticote spray paint, the sealer is quite rugged, leaves a very thin layer of coating, looks matt, and quite hard wearing - I found it good stuff for when you paint buttons and joystick caps to prevent the paint wearing off.
I plan to put the case front into place on the Unity system later, and take photo. Only thing I haven't put onto the case front yet is the "Unity" logo, which i'll put on later, that way I can gauge the size I want it to be.

Update - got the case front installed, and the drive bay doors installed, basically each of the knobs has 2 screws and those screws go into the box I made for each drive unit, so easy to remove and also works fine.
It is late, so as per usual, the colours are wrong on my camera due the the ceiling light.

Got the top section to complete next.
Yes, the parts are level, it's the camera angle that makes it look differently.
The hole above the TurboGrafx is for the controller port; the space above the GX4000 slot on the left of the switch section (the left two posts are not used) will be for the on/off switch - using the on/off switch from a GameCube - so retro!

This is an awesome project, I can't wait to see the final product.
Re: Bacteria's project: "Project Unity"
Thanks - no long to wait now; the top section above the switch unit needs completing, the other sides made, then that's it; not too long now.

If he doesn't have mad scientist goggles I'll be disappointed.

Making good progress, built a skeleton structure so can put on the sides. One side is done, others to follow.

Spent ages getting the level right for the top, to make sure the sides were all the right level; then thought i'd operate the slider, good thing I did, hadn't operated it for a while, and the wood i'd used to secure the cart holders into place for the top shelf was sticking out enough to stop the slider moving across; also need to reduce the height of the slider unit by about 2mm too. Bit of a pain, but won't take long with my Dremel to sand it all down.
Oh well, gives me a chance to remove the case front for another reason too - forgot to put in the holes for the PlayStation's eject button and reset button! I don't think I need to put in the switch for the drive units to think the doors are open as i'm pretty sure if there is no disc present it goes to the menus anyway; and the MegaDrive 60/50Hz switch i'd be wanting to keep to 60Hz, although I think I need to have that switch available in the case as some games I don't think will load otherwise.
The skeleton frame of the system is complete now, so making the sides will be quicker.
Going to use the cardboard after all for the sides, as they are not for strength just appearance; and also to that end I bought some more paint yesterday so I can make all the sides the same colour as the front.
Got a bit more to do in other words, although not doing more modding today now, will do this over the week. All being well, I hope to get the whole system completed by Friday; then as mentioned, will do some system testing, and then work on the overlays, start the videos, which will take a few more days for sure, i'm not going to rush it.

On a different note, my forum gets so much traffic that my Host suspended my account, had 2.2Gb traffic on that day, so fair enough; basically it set 10,000 tasks to the CPU on their shared sites servers, and caused them to have to cut my site or there servers would have overloaded.
Moved to a dedicated server shared facility now with them, the VPS-1000 package, gives 750Gb traffic a month, so about 20x more than we need.
Fortunate really, as when my Project Unity system goes live on the net it would have brought my site down or even deleted account due to the traffic; now it isn't a problem. I understand the site is working even quicker than before now too as a result of the upgrade.
