Panzer Dragoon II Zwei is one of my very favorite Saturn games. I am glad to see that another member has played through it.

Also, I fought through The Land of the Livid Dead in Rayman Origins last night. It was intense, but I finally made it through. I am going to grab the last four electoons tonight to "complete" the game (I will save the cups and medals for later...) before moving on to (or back to) something else.

I beat Skies Of Arcadia Legends for the first time this year. Took 60 hours due to taking my time in finding all discoveries. Excellent JRPG that still holds up in the gameplay department. My only complaint is it was too easy. I fought all the optional bosses and even they weren't a challenge.

20. Jurassic Park (SNES)(Action-Adventure)
21. Brawl Brothers (SNES)(Beat 'Em Up)
22. Monopoly (SNES)(Boardgame)

Brawl Brothers, or the second in the Rushing Beat series, is a fun and reasonably well designed beat 'em up that features a large cast with varied abilities, some interesting level concepts for a beat 'em up of its era, and some excellent music. Unfortunately it does suffer from some issues with mechanics. I had some trouble with telling exactly how close I needed to be to hit a standing opponent, because it would seem that at times I could connect with a hit box or instigate a throw while standing above them, but not always.

But the game offers some nice techniques to help with this problem, such as being able wail on downed opponents as if they were still standing. A favorite tactic of mine is to beat a group of enemies down into a pile and then proceed to wail on all of them at the same time. Unfortunately the same works for the enemies, so getting caught between two guys whose timing is slightly off on their attacks can result in some serious damage. Still, each playable character has their own method of dealing with enemies, such as Wendy's ease in throwing, Kazan's incredibly useful triple jump, or Slash's high damage. The game also challenges you by making you select two of the five characters at the start of the game and then forcing you to fight clones of the other three before you can access them again. It adds an element of strategy in determining who your bosses will be but also who you will have access to in a particular level. After restoring a character to the roster, the game will allow the player to pick again, so each level can be tackled based on the strengths of the characters available. Level design can also be a bit convoluted, as there are two maze sections, where players must make correct decisions in choosing where to go or else potentially be stuck in the same area indefinitely.

If you don't like that level design, then the streamlined levels of the Japanese release are also available, via a cheat code.

Monopoly is the same as it always is, though with a few added bonuses: you can play against the AI, there are variable options for deciding on how a game will start(effectively allow the player to create new scenarios to try such as starting with half or double money or to rebuild a game previously in progress), and the game features cute(albeit it usually simplistic) animations. The auction system for properties is a nice touch, too, but I sincerely wish the game had better music. I should also make it known that I actually dislike Monopoly, but I still played through a full game against the AI.

New Super Mario Bros 2 - 3ds
The Walking Dead Ep 1-5 - Xbox360
The Mark Of The Ninja - XBLA
Donkey Kong Country Returns - Wii

-----------------------------

So finally I sat down to play Donkey Kong Country for the wii, I played some when it was first released but some other game stole my attention. So the other day I was going through my collection and found it and decided to give it a go again. I think it's a really good platformer game but after a lot of cheap deaths I found myself thinking it felt a bit unprecise. When I die in lets say a super mario game I know its my bad but with donkey kong I got frustrated with the game and I usually don't do that. Well overall I enjoyed it and I recommend it to anyone who haven't played it.

23. Dr. Mario (SNES)(Puzzle)

So I just received the Tetris & Dr. Mario cart for my SNES, and I decided to celebrate by running through the 20 levels of Dr. Mario. I love this game and lament that I do not get to play it often enough. It has entertaining music, enjoyable gameplay, and an excellent increasing level of difficulty until level 20. You can go beyond 20, of course, but the amount of viruses no longer increase, and any loss at that point will simply posit you back at 20 if you get a Game Over.

Unlike TETRIS B-Mode, how did you exactly beat Dr.Mario?

I don't think "well, no extra viruses" count.

Fun is fun, and this thread is fun, but unless you get an ending screen, "game over/crash" at the final level, or ending credits, you haven't finished the game.

Could be wrong Ack, and I apologize if I am wrong, but I don't think Dr.Mario can be beaten. Seems like you said "Made it to level 20, that'll do".

Tetris & Dr. Mario is such a great cart. It's my go-to cart for either game (I don't have Tengen Tetris).

If the stages repeat (i.e., he completed every level in the game) - and he topped the default high score - then, in my opinion at least, he "beat" the game. I do not think that it is necessary to reach a kill screen in games like Dr. Mario, Tetris, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, etc. to have "beaten" them. ("Mastering" them, however, is something else altogether.)
