When you discuss movies like Argo or Braveheart with other folk there's an alarming tendency for them to take Hollywood's stories as gospel; I have learned to put up with Hollywood's bullshit in name of entertaining dramatisation, but a majority of people take the "based on a true story" tag too literally. The airplane chase scene in Argo never took place, and while watching it it struck me as too far-fetched and nonsensical. Is there a line of literary-license-chutzpah Hollywood still hasn't crossed?

It depends on the movie. I have yet to see "Game Change" (a film about the McCain/Palin campaign), but apparently, people who were actually there said that the film is pretty accurate. And Jack Kevorkian was said to be pleased with "You Don't Know Jack". And "Good Night And Good Luck" did use real footage of Senator McCarthy rather than dramatizing those bits.

As I recall, Apollo 13 cut some problems they had on the way back for fear that audiences would think that it was typical Hollywood dramatization.

And I love it and how it sucks suckers in. Love how FARGO is 100% fiction and it opens up with "Based on a True Story".

Another "Based on a true story" that I find hilarious that people believe in is the homo-erotic cgi thriller A PERFECT STORM. We know a boat went missing during a storm. That is all. Yet people invested their money and time to see two hours of a cgo boat in cgi water while Clooney and Marky Mark almost make out.

Niiiice. I love that one. It was great and it's sad that so many people missed it, and then complained about Grevious' breathing issue in the last prequel. I have zero interest in the retcon version that's 3D animated.

Only issue with the Tartakofsky Clone Wars is how the first half of it is comprised of very very short byte sized snippets. The pacing got way better in its second season.

"I'm glad that is over" is possibly the worst insult you can mutter after a screening...or other things. I digress.

You always want to leave people wanting more, but it can frustrate the audience. Lord knows that Fawlty Towers deserved another dozen episodes and Burton could have made a spectacular Batman Trilogy.

And dammit I need Shenmue 3 and the Dreamcast 2.
