Gamecube Player rarity?
Re: Gamecube Player rarity?
When I go on-line to look for these, all too often I see the player with no disc. I dunno if people are just using the things like coasters and throwing them away or what...
Re: Gamecube Player rarity?
I would think most disc were handled poorly and also possibly the consumer market for that product was a young one, hence the prices of a good condition set now. I love the GBA Player and as time goes on the price should stand on average as a snes or nes console should go for, After all its more than an attachment.
It has many Pros as opposed to Cons too!
-GB/GBC/GBA cart compatibiltiy (any region).
-Great for reviews and posting pictures, looking great on modern setups.
-Durability (lifetime)
-Wavebird Controller thanks to being attached to a GameCube.
-Some games may work even with out the boot disc (experiment)
-Ultimate Zelda 4 swords Setup
-Only Con: Gamecube system needed in order to play, which isn't too bad at all since wont be to costly and adds an expanded library.
I dont own any of these anymore, but Im sure Gamestops are wiped out of these (which was the last known lowest prices) so therfore is why I make the assumption of a steady price of $30-$40 reasonable, higher if demands warrant.

If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

Re: Gamecube Player rarity?
Nintendo might still sell just the disc, they did want $30 for it last I checked. I have four players but only three discs, but now that Dolphin can run Four Swords and FFCC, I might start selling them.

Mod the cube and you can play from a CDR.

Re: Gamecube Player rarity?
Luckily I scored mine for only $10 at GS when I did.
My GBA player has this problem where 50% of the time, if I hit start, and then A; to change the game - it'll still scold me as if I hadn't. My gf used to be unaware of the eject trigger, and ripped a few carts out prematurely. I suspect that could be responsible for the issue.

This may be slightly off topic, but its something I've always wondered. I currently don't own a Gameboy Player, ( I didn't buy one when they came out because I was holding out for a purple, I mean indigo, one ).
So on to my question, If I buy an imported Indigo Gameboy Player, and then buy a US disc, will it run fine on a US Gamecube?

Man, I need to get a gameboy player again. I remember playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Metroid Fusion on that thing all the time. It's a great piece of hardware, much like the Super Gameboy.

It is too bad they never did one for the DS or 3DS to play on the Wii. Playing some of these 30+ hour DS games can be a pain in the neck and hard on the eyes!
